Please note carefully that it is about What is praised. Praising a kid for what they DO is far more beneficial than praise for what they ARE.

Also consider that this applies to humans of all ages and levels of consciousness, not just to kids. Have you noticed that when some people become a Manager their demeanor and effectiveness decline?  Have you noticed that when some people are awarded academic degrees or professional certifications their learning decellerates?
