... to apply systems thinking to social situations e.g. teaching/education perhaps means that human behavior must also be modeled/simulated (I'm not sure we know how to do this) Most teachers are not ideal. And there are "disruptive" influencers like Salman Khan who know the value of engaging passions.
Personally I think the classroom culture will have to change first. Teachers need to be shown how to harmonize the efforts of the 30 (or so) kids, so that the class becomes a learning unit, actually committed to the growth (of course varying by ability) of all, while developing intrinsic motivation, as the driver within all.
