NEW INTENSIVE ACADEMIC ENGLISH PROGRAM AT UC BERKELEY EXTENSION
UC Berkeley Extension’s Intensive Academic English Program (IAEP)
prepares intermediate and advanced international students for
university study in the United States. More than a traditional
English-as-a-second-language (ESL) curriculum, IAEP provides focused,
rigorous instruction in university-level English to develop skills in
speaking, listening, reading, academic writing, pronunciation and
grammar.
IAEP offers six levels of intermediate to advanced English language
instruction. Starting with a minimum three-month commitment, students
stay as long as they need to achieve proficiency. On-site placement
exams ensure students start in the instruction level appropriate for
their skills. And experienced instructors and staff guide students
toward this proficiency through supportive, individualized attention.
UC Berkeley Extension is now accepting applications for the inaugural
session beginning in May 2012. All students with intermediate to
advanced English skills are encouraged to apply. IAEP classes are
located in downtown San Francisco.
UC Berkeley Extension is the continuing education branch of the
University of California, Berkeley. Extension offers professional and
personal enrichment programs in the classroom and online for adults in
the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond.
