OK folks, it is that time of year again. The Diversity Visa Lottery began at midnight last night and will be open until 12:00 NOON Eastern Standard Time, November 5th. Remember that the last week of the lottery it is very difficult to get into the website to make your entry.
Each year the United States gives away 50,000 Permanent Residencies by Lottey. In order to win and be granted the visa, the individual entering MUST have a High School Diploma or University or have been working in an occupation for at least two years that takes two years or more to learn. The acceptable occupations can be found through the attached DV Lottery instructions.
This year it will also require the adult applying to have a passport number and expiration, name on entry must match what is in their passport.
The photo requirements are very specific and must be followed EXACTLY! Read all of the directions carefully.
This is an opportunity for International, Students who may want to stay, and for relatives and friends that are living abroad. Spread the word, if you know anyone who could benefit from this program.
BEWARE of SCAMS!!! It is free to enter the DV Lottery at the US Department of State website "
dvlottery.state.gov". Make sure you use the ".gov" because there are lot of FAKE website that will charge you money to do the entry and may not even submit it.
The countries that 50,000 immigrants come to the US in the last 5 years are not eligible. They are: Bangldesh, Brazil, Canada, China (mainland but Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan are eligible), Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, South Korea, United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland is eligible) and its dependent territories and Vietnam.
