I have attached a short statement that was written by Nancy Nzobigeza. She was chosen as a People To People Ambassador. She is trying to raise the funds for the travel to Europe this summer with the group. BUT she is not your ordinary student just wanting a trip.

Nancy was born a refugee. Her parents were refugees from Burundi living in Tanzania. They grew up in the refugee camps. Through a UNHCR program they were able to obtain an education and later travel to the capital, Dar es Salaam. But in the city they had to hide their identity and pretend to be Tanzanian because refugees  were not welcome outside of the camps.

When Nancy was very young her father, Bahati Jeff had an opportunity to come to the United States. Once here he applied for asylum and was granted. It had taken approximately 8 years away from his family. It still took another couple of years to be able to bring his wife and Nancy. They live in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Nancy adjusted to life in the US very quickly but she is not a typical teenager. She studies hard and wants to become a doctor. Her grades are very, very good. She is mature beyond her years. She will use this opportunity to learn and to make connections with a variety of people. She really is an incredible young lady.

If you can contribute $5 - $10 - $20 - $50 or any other amount it will be money well spent on her future which will then benefit society.

If you know of any business or organization that may be able to help, Nancy and her parents would be willing to meet with them so they can see for themselves who they would be investing in.

Please contact Bahati Jeff Nzobigeza if you are able to help. He can be reached at "jeffb...@yahoo.com" or (513) 501-7915.

Thank you,
Natalie Fair-Albright

Nancy's Statement:

For 50 years, People to People Ambassador Programs has been changing the world through educational student travel. It all started in 1956 with President Eisenhower’s vision of defining the People to People mission. People to People Ambassador Programs provides educational travel for students across the world.

The Programs continue to play a significant role in increasing global awareness. As one of the world's most recognized educational travel providers, People to People Ambassador Programs travel both students and professionals around the globe. The mission is to bridge cultural and political borders through education and exchange, creating global citizens and making the world a better place for future generations.

Late this year, I received an invitation to participate in the next year’s trip. I went to one of their meetings so as to familiarize myself with the Program. After the meeting, an interview was scheduled and fortunately, I was selected. I’ll be able to travel with other Student ambassadors in June next year for about three weeks. This is a European Heritage trip to seven European countries. Which are: England, France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria and Switzerland.

The total cost for the trip is around $7,000 and my parents cannot afford it. I am kindly appealing for help to raise this amount so as to make this happen.

I'm originally from Eastern Africa, specifically Burundi (Undeveloped country with a history of civil wars). I’m now living in United States and a junior in high school at Mother of Mercy, a member of National Honor Student. To me, this opportunity is a once in a lifetime. From this Program, I hope to gain a knowledge that cannot be provided in class, see the world in a different perspective, and interact with other cultures. This is a wonderful experience for me during the summer, and I hope to live in it.

"No opportunity worth seizing is going to knock on your door. Opportunities are everywhere, but like hidden treasures, you have to find them."

Education is the most important powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”
