Major League Baseball Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) Scholarship Program

Major League Baseball Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) Scholarship Program
Major League Baseball Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) Scholarship Program is open to high school seniors who plan to attend a two- or four-year college or university, vocational or technical school. The scholarship helps to provide financial assistance to youth who participate in the RBI program and pursue a post secondary education.

Students interested in applying for the scholarship must have a strong interest in baseball or softball. They must have a grade point average of 2.5 or above and financial need that prevents them from pursuing a college education on their own. Up to 12 students each year are awarded scholarships.

Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) began in 1989 as a program to provide disadvantaged youth an opportunity to learn how to play baseball. Youth participation in the program kept young people focused on sports and teamwork which helped keep them off the streets. Major League Baseball and its Clubs have given more than $30 million of resources to the RBI program.

Applicants must be participants in the RBI program (Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities) and student-athletes who demonstrate academic achievement, leadership qualities, and financial need.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in MARCH of each year, and the award amount is usually $5,000.
