Chemistry by Troels Henricksen is a very interesting and entertaining book written by an Australian. It explores some of the most interesting topics regarding chemistry, life and the universe and also touches on topics such as ethics, metaphysics and religion which are all brought into light through the lens of a child. The story follows the protagonist, Michael Farley who is a chemistry student and tries to understand some of the most difficult questions in life.

I enjoyed the style in which the author wrote this book. He is not afraid to mix humor and serious topics in his explanations and he brings these topics to life in such a way that you cannot help but laugh and enjoy the story he tells. Michael Farley is taken aback when he realizes just how much he does in everyday life just to get a little bit of Chemistry done. Chemistry is something he sees as fun but he knows that it is far from being that and for that reason he tries as much as possible to avoid doing any real chemistry. As the story goes on you can see that he has come to see Chemistry as a real challenge and he wants to do well at it.
Chemistry by Troels Henricksen has many similarities to the newer version of Chemistry by Stephen Wolfram which has just been released. Both books are excellent sellers and both have won the lion's share of awards. If you are looking for an easy read with excellent plot lines and logical reasoning then this is the book for you. The cover page of the book sums up the essence of the book in one sentence by saying "To enjoy life you have to laugh and to enjoy life you have to learn to chemistry." That is as concise a description as you will ever find for such an enjoyable and thought provoking book.
