Traffic and Highway Engineering by Garber is probably Garber's most accomplished book to date, and is undoubtedly an authoritative text on this important subject. It includes more than 250 fully color photographs and illustrations, which help make this book a pleasure to read. The main text is divided into five chapters, each dealing with a different aspect of traffic, with a brief concluding chapter looking at the engineering behind the design of traffic systems. The case studies included are highly relevant to current day traffic problems, and deal with everything from vehicle speed limits, to the effect of road construction on traffic, to the safety of the design of toll roads.
Although Traffic and Highway Engineering by Garber has been subject to much criticism in the past, it certainly is not without its merits, and one would be unwise to ignore this book.
