Differentiation Station Assignment

For this week’s assignment, visit your group’s social networking site
and post the name and URL of at least one of each of the surveys/
inventories you located in the Application Assignment. Provide a brief
description of each tool including the appropriate grade level/age
level for which it can be used.

Interest Inventory

This math inventory was retrieved from the Research, Development and
Accountability website in an article titled “Figure This!”, published
in May 2001. The inventory was chosen because it allows students to
indicate their feelings about math. This inventory is suitable for
second grade students and can be accessed via the following link:

Multiple Intelligences Survey

http://www.sgsd.k12.wi.us/homework/ferchc/MULTIPLE%20INTELLIGENCES%20SURVEY%20FOR%20STUDENTS.htm

This survey was created by Craig Ferch, school psychologist at the
Shawano Community School and Olga Brener Intermediate School located
in Wisconsin.

I believe that this survey is appropriate for Second Grade students.
The language is simple and can be easily understood by students at
this level. The content of the survey is also appropriate because it
does adequately assess which intelligences are used most often by the
student.

Learning Profile Inventory

Learning style, intelligence preference, culture, and gender are the
four elements that constitutes a students’ learning profile (Laureate
Education Inc., 2009). The following learning profile was developed by
Denise Murphy and Beth Ann Potter and was taken from an excerpt of the
book “How to Differentiate Instruction in Mixed-Ability Classrooms,
2nd Edition” written by Carol Ann Tomlinson. The inventory is in the
form of a questionnaire and requires students to answer sixteen
questions to identify how students learn best. The inventory is
appropriate for second graders and can be accessed via the following

Learning Styles Survey

“Learning style refers to preferences in regard to environmental
elements, interactions and personal needs” (Tomlinson, 2009). This
learning style survey was retrieved from the Higher Colleges of
Technology Fujairah website. The survey comprises of twelve statements
that students must choose on a scale from one to five. Upon
completion of the survey, students are required to calculate their
results and at the end indicate whether or not they believe that the
survey is correct in its analysis. This survey is also suitable for
second grade students. The link to the survey is:
