Have you read or even seen your school's Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)?
If you have never read it before, please let us know why you haven't
and let us know if you were ever asked to have read it. If you have
read it, were you made to sign that you agree to the policy? Do
students and teachers have the same AUP? What are the Pros and cons
of having an AUP?

I have never seen anything like this before or even know if our
district has one or not. I looked on our districts website and was not
able to find anything like this. If I have signed one in the past I
did not know it because this is something new to me.

I have never seen this policy until Donna emailed our tech person and
asked for one. She got a student policy but not an employee policy.
It was not found on the website. I have never been asked to read nor
sign anything.
It would depend on what the policy said to pick out the pros and cons.

I have not seen or read our district's AUP. I did not know that it
even existed until now. I did sign an internet policy as a parent of
2 students within our district but I didn't really read it. I
thought I was just giving permission for my kids to access the
internet. I don't know if students and teachers have the same
policy. I would think that having a policy in place would help ensure
proper use of the internet.

No I have never read or seen Troy School District's Internet User
Policy. I have learned this afternoon that all students and their
parents must sign a Internet User Policy contract while they are
attending the Middle School. After signing the contract student will
recieve a password. Pros for havng an internet useage policy is that
students know what is expected of them while using the internet.
Policy must be enforced to be effective.

Yes, I have read my school's student AUP, but I do not remember a
separate one for faculty, nor do I remember ever signing one (of
course, this does not mean that I did not sign one, only that I do not
remember signing one). I do not believe that the teachers in the
district were to sign the policy, although all students and their
guardians are to sign one before being given a computer password.
Having an AUP should give the students, parents, and the district
employees one set of rules to follow, and so also give the school a
way to discipline the violators of the policy. This policy is only as
strong as those who will enforce it. Since one of the Guidelines
includes a procedure which states that all staff members must attend a
training session and sign a user agreement before being allowed to use
the internet, and since I don't ever remember having to do this, I am
not sure how good our AUP really is.
