NEWS

--- "Insight-Lingua" refreshed its site

The "Insight-Lingua" company has again [1] changed its site design.
Right away it catches your eye that it changed dramatically its color
spectrum - now it's white and orange. The site's design leaves a nice
impression. The logic of the program and educational institutions
catalogue composition creates a kind of confusion though. For example,
in the section "Countries" the language courses for business are [2]
for some reasons in "Secondary Education", and in the main list of
classification headings on the left they are in the section "Business
education". Nevertheless, those who want will always find the necessary
information wherever it's hidden.

--- "Pitfalls" of elite UK boarding schools

The "Parta" site posts an article "British boarding schools: pitfalls"
written by Andrey Shouiskyy for "Education and Carrier" magazine. "The
oldest the school is the more non-formal traditions it has got, or, in
short, humiliation of any kind, - shares the author with unexpected
information. - Initiation into school's students, strength testing of
the newcomers, ostracism of other nationalities representatives for
their appearance, behaviour pattern or a wrong accent". But parents of
the would-be boarders have possibility to choose a school where these
factors are less prominent. There are reports regularly published in
the UK, of special commissions that survey schools for the purpose of
observing children's rights and interests. The article also has a
ranking of UK boarding schools in the Times version, also, as an
example, extracts from reports on Eton - one of the oldest and most
prestigious private schools of England. As it follows from reports -
"even the sun has spots". In conclusion the author advises: "Perhaps
you don't need to seek after "label" but to estimate opportunities and
abilities of your child and to choose a smaller school, not so notable
but where your child will feel comfortable, "as at home" - as they
say".

--- The UK: bachelor's degree can be got for 2 years

The UK government intends to launch a pilot project within which
students will be able to get bachelor's degree for two years but not
for three as it's now. The shrinking of studying terms will be possible
thanks to reduction of summer holidays duration.

Higher education minister of the UK Bill Rammell explained in the Times
interview that till 2012 specialists with higher education will be
necessary for a half of new working places. However, despite the
increase of the number of universities, the percentage of those who got
higher education is still below the mark defined by the government.
