--- About study in Sweden and a scholarship program of the Swedish
institute
On Parta site a bit confused article appeared telling about studying
experience in the Summer school in the Swedish university within the
framework of the Visby scholarship program. It also dwells upon some
peculiarities of studying in PhD program and student life in Sweden.
On the same site there is a rather useful material [1] on the Visby
scholarship program itself that is administrated by the Swedish
institute (the organization similar in functions to the British
Council). Out of the article one can learn about who has the right to
claim to the scholarship and grants within the framework of Visby, how
and where to send applications to participate in the program, the size
of the scholarship.

--- The Netherlands attract more and more students
The number of applications for student visas to the Netherlands has
increased by 20%. As a result, the special department has been created
to speed up the process of visa issuing. According to the data of the
Immigration service of the Netherlands (IND), for the period of May 1
to August 15, 2005, more than 4,000 applications were received - it's
by 700 more than in the same period last year. The most applications
were submitted by the students of China, Indonesia and Russia. All
citizens of the countries not in the European Union need to receive a
temporary stay authorization, MVV, and citizens of China are demanded
to have a Neso Certificate that is issued by the Netherlands Education
Support Office (Neso) in Beijing. This procedure is supposed to
confirm IELTS passing. At the moment in the Netherlands there are more
850 international programs whose language of teaching is English.

--- The number of foreign students decreased in the New Zealand
schools but not in educational institutions
The director of Education New Zealand [1] Robert Stevens stated the
noticeable drop of the number of students coming from abroad to the
New Zealand schools and the English language courses. Decrease for the
period January - August 2005 in comparison with the same period of
2004 made up 21% (from 12,573 to 9,958) and 28% (from 34,005 to
24,658) correspondingly. At the same time, the New Zealand educational
institutions have unchangeable authority, and their activities are
stable. The main reasons of what happened Mr. Stevens considers to be
the strong New Zealand dollar, increased competition in the
educational sector and change in students' demand. Recently ENZ has
been trying to improve researches and to forecast the market of
educational services, to expose vividly some attractive peculiarities
of the New Zealand, to assist to accept rules able to react to the
changes in the field of immigration policy regarding students, to
assist to wide world recognition of the qualification that the
students get in the New Zealand. 80,000 foreign students and 2
milliard NZD gain are the figures that make one treat seriously
changes and react to the market demands keenly, not to mention a
significant intellectual contribution of foreign students, Mr. Stevens
summed up. (According to the materials of "eduABROAD - education in
Australia and New Zealand" newsletter.)
