NEWS

--- About learning hotel management in Canada and the Netherlands

On www.parta.org there were two articles published concerning education
in the field of hotel management: in Canada [1] and in the Netherlands
[2]. "The Canadian hotel management programs are taught in colleges as
well as in universities. As the Canadians themselves say, colleges
teach how to do, universities - how to think". The article about Canada
tells about the program of one college (Niagara College) and of four
universities. The article about the Netherlands shares some detailed
information about three educational institutions where hotel management
programs can be learnt in English. That is Hotelschool The Hague, NHTV
Breda University of Professional Education) and CHN (Christelijke
Hogeschool Nederland).

--- One more questionnaire is necessary to get a student's visa to
Ireland

>From January 1 to get a student's visa to Ireland, apart from Embassy's
application form, payment confirmation and financial capability, as
well as other documents, it is necessary to fill in a questionnaire in
English personally by an applicant. RATA-news informs about it
referring to the Irish visa department.

The questionnaire includes 13 pages. In the document a potential
student should give some detailed information about where he studied
and worked, in what specific Irish institution he is planning to study
further. Apart from that, he should indicate financial security of
education down to the bank's or sponsor's address. It is also necessary
to give information about almost all relatives. The questionnaire is
filled in once - when it is first time when he applies for visa. It is
not necessary in case of recurring trips.

RATA-news notes that according to the data of the Ireland Embassy in
Moscow, in 2004 there were about 2,000 visitor's visas (not working)
including for study issued to the Russians. In 2005 that figure has
already decreased to 1,800. The new measure of the Irish authorities
will hardly correct the negative dynamics concerning this.
