--- About entering a business school at first hand

April 2006 issue of Cariera magazine published an interview with
Christen Pavlovski, entrance examination director's deputy of
University of Chicago Graduate School of Business (Chicago GSB [1]).
The article is, first of all, directed toward potential students:
Pavlovski tells about students' selection criterion, entrance
procedure. But learning about typical mistakes in essays and in letters
of recommendation is interesting for anyone who considers business
education.

--- Everyday life aspects of studying abroad

The correspondent of the weekly "Kommersant DENGI" tells in the article
"Everyday school-leaving certificate" what everyday inconvenience the
schoolchildren and students from Russia will have to bear with.
Insufficient to Russian measure heating, scanty furnishing in rooms,
unaccustomed food - that is what most English boarding schools are.
Students of institutions and language courses can confront the problem
of looking for digestible food, necessity to get to the institution and
lack of mixers in bathrooms.

--- Language schools in England change their owners

Takeovers of small language schools with a few decades of seniority by
large educational groups have been fairly frequent in the UK of late,
as in many cases, schools founders sell their "brain-children" willing
to withdraw from business. Thus, last year School of English Studies
(SES) Folkestone went [2] under the wing of OISE group [1] and in 2006
January - Scanbrit School of English [3] in Bournemouth. The latest
school to be taken over is Salisbury School of English [4] in Salisbury
on the South of England, which has been sold to the Wels Group of
International House (IH) schools. IH-Wels group, that is a part of one
of the largest world organizations in the field of foreign languages
learning International House World Organisation (IHWO), has language
schools in the UK, Australia and USA. The UK schools are based on the
southwest of England - in Torquay and Bath. (According to Language
Travel Magazine's materials.)

--- Off-Campus Work Permits for International Students In Canada

As early as this summer foreign students in Canada will be able to work
off-campus officially. In the end of April minister of Citizenship and
Immigration Canada (CIC) Monte Solberg announced about official launch
Off-Campus Work Permit Program which allows foreign students of
colleges and universities to work up off-campus till 20 hours a week
when studying and full working day when on holidays.

Permission to work is owned only by internal students of officially
accredited educational institutions of Canada who concluded agreement
about possibility to work off-campus with the government of the
province. The CIC site posts a list [1] of educational institutions
that take part in Off-Campus Work Permit Program. One should take into
account that those foreigners who study in language programs or are in
Canada within change programs have no permission to work during
studies. Besides, foreign participants of Canadian
Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Program (CSFP) and of
scholarship programs financed by Canadian International Development
Agency cannot work off-campus.
