eReader and Digital Resource Apps

Here are a couple digital resource apps that I found interesting.

Fragile Earth. HarperCollins Publishers Ltd. and Aimer Media. iOS, requires 4.0 or later. Version: 1.1. $2.99.

A great app that provides before and after images of a range of environmental phenomena including tsunamis, earthquakes, desert droughts and man's impact ont the environment.  Users can filter results by date, region of the world, or theme.  Navigation is easy and offers illustrated index and table of contents.  A great visual resource for students or teachers working on environmental projects or lessons.

The app provides a gallery of excellent photos (all captioned) and text related to each image.  The information includes historical and scientific facts about the geography of the land and its inhabitants.  Because the text is limited, it is best suited for young children.  The couple downsides to Antarctica is it contains no narration, sound effects, or interactivity.  A great visual only resource for young children for science, geography and history classes.

Here is just a little more information about the Infinite Book Reader I mentioned in a previous email.

Infinite Book Reader:  Some of the features include: being able to download the book for access even when the internet is not accessible; automated bookmarks for any book; being able to download books with standard fonts or read them as they were published originally.  There are so many classics that are available for download.
