Dear friends,
Sanjeev, thanks for your balanced message. I also agree that we should not get too passionate about
the name. So I suggest that we take two or three most popular names and register them. After that
we quickly move onto work. I got a very positive reply from Dr. Rajesh Khindri from Eklavya, that I'll
share with you in the next mail.
Now from the other side, I am kind of neutral on the name issue, and in fact, I didn't think of one.
Still, it is important to have our vision clear, and that should reflect on our name. My thoughts are
as follows:
Our community eserver is like a Joint or coffee-shop where we discuss things, and take all the
good work done by people in the past and present, and make it open to all over the world.
So I believe I have not much new to offer in the field of EDUCATION, rather a lot to learn from
the serious people who have worked on education in the past and present. Education is life-long
process, so I am not ashamed of learning all the time.
With this background, I am not very sure that our present idea of eserver is giving new direction.
People like Socrates, Gandhi, Marx, Vivekananda, and many many others have thought so
much on this topic, that I feel I am a dwarf, and I would definitely not like to give a connotation
that I have a new direction to offer.
So I think Nai Dishaa does not quite fit the perspective.
According to me, we should have a international perspective with community oriented
activity and participation.
Yet the idea of eserver is a vital and very important at the present stage. We are using a modern tool
to communicate at a pace that is practically infinite times faster than the older ones.
We all want to meet each other and learn from each other irrespective of distance..
At present, there is nothing like ECHAUPAL.. So I am all fired up for this.. yet
I wish to be modest and say that we are all learners, not directors for the kids, teachers and
much wiser educationists in India and abroad.
As I said I wished to be not dragged into this, and I am generally happy with all the names. Yet I think
Priya's choice "Vichar" seems very appropriate keeping our present vision. So I request people
to think about this along with other names.. and talk among themselves. We can own two
to three names.. Meanwhile Priya also thought of some motto (in our echat) that he has not put it yet..
I am taking the liberty to put it here for people to discuss and modify OR reject
English-- Think Education Together
Hindi- Milkar Sinkhe (I am sorry my hindi keyboard is not working).
I should stop my long email here. I hope I have not hurt anyone's sentiments.
