Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live came to town for three shows in the Bryce Jordan Center this weekend, all a year and a half after they were originally scheduled thanks to some pandemic-fueled delays. To celebrate, three of our staffers willingly got drunk, high, or stayed sober for the event, because such a momentous occasion deserves to be enjoyed in a variety of states.

I know this town is more than just college students, but I was shocked at how many children were around me. This couple had an infant with them, and a bunch of 7-year-olds filled our section. I was feeling perceived, especially because I definitely smelled like tequila. Look the other way, kids.

Next was the long jump competition, and I was still questioning my right to be here. The trucks lined up and see who could jump the furthest. The green one went really high up, and I started screaming because I thought it was going to flip over. But then I remembered that these are MONSTER TRUCKS, and nothing could defeat them. Of course, Bone Shaker won, and I was living for it.

Upon walking into the Bryce Jordan Center, I immediately noticed the fumes coming from the monster trucks while I was still in the concourse. To give you all an idea of what it smelled like, it was like filling up your car with gas at a gas station and putting your face right up to the gas hose and breathing it in. The smell got only worse once we got to our seats.

The last event was the long jump competition. Each truck had to jump over about six crushed cars, and the longest jump won. After Bone Shaker annihilated the field with his jump, the fumes got the best of me, and I decided that it was time to go.

I was the first one to get to the BJC, and once I walked in, I felt like Buddy the Elf when he was in New York City for the first time. However, I could hear the roars of the crowd, so I desperately wanted to get in on all the fun.

I eventually got to my seat, but it was loud. I thought my eardrums were about to burst, so I ventured back to the main lobby of the BJC. I eventually found a nice gentleman working for guest services, and he gave me an extra set of earplugs that came in clutch.

After I took a quick potty break, I found Drunk and Sober before we went to our section and enjoyed the show. The first event we saw was a donut competition between all the monster trucks. I was really confused about the scoring system. Who decides the points? Regardless, it was a great competition, and as a bonus, the tire marks on the floor closely resembled a penis. I had a good laugh about that.

I tried to converse with Sober, but it was way too loud, so I just decided to soak up all the vibes in the room. I noticed that the average age was maybe seven years old, and there was a baby? Why would someone bring a baby to this? Also, all the fumes started to fill up the arena, and it felt like Snoop was just hot-boxing this event.

I make little secret of my love for sherried whiskies. There are few things I appreciate more than a monster that marries sherry and malt. Bunnahbhain 18 offers sherry in spades; the costal distillery combines rich, full bodied sherry with salty sea spray.

I also appreciate the fact that Bunnahabhain have started edging up the ABV in their spirits generally. This one is only a smidge over 40%, clocking in at 46.3% ABV, but it still tastes much better than it would at the legal minimum. Bunnahbhain also ditched caramel coloring, and chill filtration woohoo!!!

Nose: Salty sea spray, sherried figs and plums, cherries and candy. Palate: Lots of toffee and sherry pudding. Full bodied and rich like an oloroso. Malty mid palate with plums and caramel. Finish: Lingering taste of figs and toffee. Very long and pleasant finish.

This handscroll illustrates the legend of how an ogre called Shuten Dōji ('The Drunken Boy') was killed by the warrior Minamoto Yorimitsu (who actually lived AD 948-1021).

Shuten Dōji lured young women to his lair in the mountains where he kept them prisoner and sometimes ate them. Yorimitsu and his four companions deceived the monster by disguising themselves as yamabushi ('mountain monks'). They made him drunk, then cut off his head, freeing the district from this terrible peril. In this scene the warriors, disguised as monks, cross a ravine by way of a fallen pine trunk. They carry portable shrines on their backs. Some locals point and welcome them with obvious pleasure and relief. The historical Yorimitsu was a warrior who served the Heian court by getting rid of robbers and pirates, suggesting why this legend was attached to him.

The composition of the scroll is based on a famous set of scrolls attributed to Kanō Masanobu (1476-1559). The lively detail and energy are clearly Kanō' in style, but the earthy vigour suggests that it was commissioned by a rich townsman rather than by a daimyō.

?Announcement?

To all nearby residents:

First, allow us to express our gratitude to everyone for always being such good neighbors to our monsters and researchers.

Tonight, we have taken it upon ourselves to review a common concern we receive: that our facility seems dangerous and gives people the creeps.

In light of this, we have decided to set up a social media account to allow all of you to see our monsters and researchers in action.

By viewing the feats and day-to-day lives of our nursery, we hope it may help you better understand our noble mission.

I think you are old enough to talk to your father yes and I believe you have the heart to knock some sense into his head. He sounds like a really good father who just does not do well under the influence of alcohol. There are very few people who are not made into monsters by drink.

A monster portrait illustration for the Drunken Mob, originally run in November 2021. Designed to accommodate a variety of crops for in-game and marketing needs. My dad provided the face for the leader of the pack, and he had a blast getting into character.

Though they lack speed and multi-hitting combos, Drunken Apes are known to be one of the strongest monsters in the 35th floor. They are capable of causing a formidable amount of damage with the use of low-level mace skills and are also capable of healing themselves by drinking some healing liquid from their gourd, making them a difficult opponent if they attack in groups.[1]

Several Drunk Apes attacked the lost Silica in the Forest of Wandering. The Drunk Apes quickly overpowered the female player due to their number and healing abilities and killed her Tamed Monster, Pina. Distraught and grieving due to the death of her beloved pet, Silica attacked the apes and managed to kill one but was still outnumbered. At the last second, Kirito arrived and killed the remaining Drunk Apes, saving the thirteen year old Dragon Master.

The Bahkauv is a mythical monster said to reside in Aachen, Germany.[1][2] The creature has been featured in the folklore of both Aachen and the Rhineland. Often depicted as a deformed calf with fangs, the Bahkauv is commonly associated with drunken men.[3][2]

The Bahkauv is typically described as being similar to an elongated or deformed calf with sharp fangs. According to legend, the creature often lurks near fountains, streams, and sewers.[3] The Aachen city sewers and the many thermal springs found under the city have been cited as a dwelling place for the Bahkauv.[1] One legend holds that Pippin the Younger slew a Bahkauv as it was lying by a spring. In 1902 the city of Aachen erected a statue of the Bahkauv over an old well that had been associated with the monster. This statue was melted down for its metal in World War II, prompting the city to build a second statue in 1967. This statue persists to the present day.[1][2]

The Bahkauv is associated with harassing drunk men. In legend, the creature would ambush intoxicated men at night and latch onto their shoulders, forcing them to carry it around before attacking them.[2][4]
