Hey everyone! Pardon for the delay!
Here is what we discussed:
BEHAVIORIST
1. Greek Myths and Jeopardy=======> GABY
The video explains how Greek myths reflect the religious and world views of the Greeks. The students are expected to take notes that will enable them to participate in the game activity. Students will participate in a "Jeopardy" game constructed by the teacher.
The teacher will create the groups by counting 1-3. All the #1s form a group, #2s another group, #3 another group. Three groups will be named: The Minotaurs, The Pegasuses, The Cyclopes. Each student in the group will take a number (Group Minataurs, 8 students, students will have 1-8 number labels; Group Cyclopes: 8 students 1-8 number labels, etc.) to make sure all group members participate. The teacher will call #1s and all #1s will come up to the podiums. Three students will simultaneously answer questions (following the Jeopardy rules). Who ever hits the buzzer first will be allowed to answer questions, and accumulate points for their teams. The winning team gets a prize: Pizza Party, Free Time, etc.
2. Group Vs. Group: "Let's win!"==========> KAREN
The students will be asked to make up question for a Group competition. The questions are based on the myth of Persephone and the Power point lecture given by the teacher on how the myth is reflects the Ancient Greeks' religious and world views. The questions are factual questions, which can be on word answer, true and false, fill in the blank, etc.
Each student will summit 5 questions. The teacher will evaluate them and edit them. Those questions that were approved by the teacher will be copied by the students in index cards.
The teacher then will assign a 1 or a #2 to each student. Those in #1 will move to one side of the room, and those in #2 to another side of the room. The students will name their group, for example: Group A and Group B. Next, each student one group will be given a number, the same for the other. Then #1 will go against #1, #2 vs. #2, #3 vs. #3. That way all students get to participate, and not only a "few" student answer all the questions. The teacher keeps score!! (LET ME KNOW IF THIS IS OK, YOU CAN CHANGE IT!)
A prize will be given to the winning team: Pizza Party, Free COMPUTER time at the library, etc.
3. "Trivial Pursuit: The Greeks and their Myths" =============> VIVIAN
Based on the myth of Persephone and the Power Point lecture material students will form 5 groups consisting of 5 members each and create their on games using the board game model for "Trivial Pursuit." They will name their group accordingly since their name will be featured at the center of the game board they will create. The questions will be factual questions. The objective is for students to remember what they learn. Each game created will pass on to the next team.
***Here, I was thinking that maybe creating a game by each group might be a bit complicated!! I mean who is keeping score, and how is the teacher monitoring this. When I was looking what this game is about I noticed an activity in which the whole class create one BIG GIANT TRIVIAL PURSUIT REVIEW game. The students created the question. Then Each group took turns tossing the die, if they answer the question wrong they gave their turn to the group next to them.
I have attached the activity to create this giant trivial pursuit review game.
Please take a look at it. I'm not sure how the game works!
If you want to make changes to the activities, suggestions, etc. Please do!!
