Nacissus meaning "sleep, numbness," in Greek mythology was a hunter from the territory of Thespiae in Boeotia who was renowned for his beauty. He was exceptionally proud, in that he disdained those who loved him. Nemesis saw this and attracted Narcissus to a pool where he saw his own reflection in the waters and fell in love with it, not realizing it was merely an image. Unable to leave the beauty of his reflection, Narcissus died."
"The myth of Echo and Narcissus is a classic tale of one-sided love in which the handsome Narcissus is punished for his cruel treatment of Echo by suffering her fate."
*** This is one of the myths I have a more clear recollection of from fourteen years ago when I was in six grade Math class.
I think the myth reflects the Ancient Greeks' religion and view of their world (cosmology). We can make plenty of activities from this myth.
