Its been 15 years since we first saw Twilight on our movie screens, with the first film arriving in 2008 and the final installment in the Twilight Saga being released in 2012. Based on the hit book series by Stephanie Meyer, the YA paranormal romance franchise was a huge hit, shooting Meyer to a new height of popularity, along with stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson.
With a resurgence in appreciation for the Twilight saga, it's time to look back at the movies and start from the beginning before Bella and Edward ever met. Book lovers will know that these five movies do not cover Meyer's book Midnight Sun, which is a version of the Twilight story told from the perspective of Edward Cullen. While it's unlikely we'll ever get a Midnight Sun version of a movie on screen (at least not until the series is rebooted again), there are more paths to walk down than just Edward's perspective. The series expanded its world beyond Forks and since the characters are vampires there's a wealth of past stories to explore. A miniseries about the Cullens could be exciting, as would a look at the Volturi and the darker side of vampire culture, or even a jump forward in time with an adult Renesmee?
Regardless, whether you are watching the epic saga of Bella and Edward for the first time, or you are interested in going through it again, the list below will help keep you on track and best follow this supernatural love story as it unfolds.
The Twilight series is pretty easy to follow as the release dates coincide with the timeline. The only difficulty may lie in keeping the titles straight, and if you're wondering which film features your favorite moments we've got you covered with the following recaps.
This point in the story is when she becomes friends with Jacob Black (Lautner), who joins her in her newfound daredevil antics and helps her out of her depression. Although she still misses Edward, she starts to enjoy her life again as her friendship with Jacob deepens. Things get complicated when Jacob suddenly falls ill one day and comes back a transformed version of himself. Soon after, Bella learns his secret, he's a werewolf - and so are other members of his Quileute tribe. What's more, they are natural enemies with vampires, though the tribe has a longstanding peace covenant with the Cullens.
Edward and Bella are reunited by the end of the novel and film when the Volturi are introduced. These Volturi vampires are considered as the royal family of the vampires; elite, high-ranking, and powerful ancient creatures who set the laws of vampire society. Alice has a vision of Bella jumping off of a cliff and Edward mistakenly thinks she killed herself. He decides to end his own life by revealing he's a vampire in a crowded Italian square, in front of the Volturi, who would immediately execute him for revealing their secret to humans. Bella and Alice arrive just in time to save him, but it is also revealed that Bella knows about vampires, and the couple is given an ultimatum - Bella must be killed or turned into a vampire.
The Cullens and the Quileute tribe agree to fight together in order to defeat Victoria's army, and during the battle, Edward, Bella, and Jacob go into hiding, camping away from the action. When Jacob overhears Edward and Bella discussing their engagement, he storms off in a dangerous rage, but Bella stops him by kissing him, and in doing so, she realizes she loves him too. She just loves Edward more. When Victoria is defeated, Jacob finally agrees to stay out of Edward and Bella's way, and onto the next battle, they tell Charlie about their engagement.
It doesn't, but Bella does become pregnant with Edward's vampire-hybrid child, who they name Renesmee and who grows at an alarming rate, taking a tremendous toll on Bella's health. Jacob once again becomes furious when he realizes that Bella is pregnant (a danger to herself and as the Quileute believe, likely those around her), and the werewolves become split over how to eradicate the threat they believe her child represents.
Bella nearly dies during the birth at last forcing Edward to transform her into a vampire. Jacob storms in to kill the child, but once he locks eyes with the infant, he "imprints" on her, which is basically the process that happens when a Quileute shape-shifter finds its soul mate. That's why Jacob was so drawn to Bella, she was the future mother of his soulmate. Since Quileute law forbids harming anyone who has been imprinted on by a member of the tribe, Renesmee is now safe... from werewolves at least. Not so much from the Volturi, whose big finale return is teased in Breaking Dawn: Part 1's post-credits scene.
As the final movie begins, Bella awakens after giving birth and is now a vampire, having been changed by Edward to save her from the debilitating birth. She takes to the transformation exceptionally well and deals with the change better than everyone else. When Bella learns that Jacob is fated to be her newborn daughter's mate, she is initially furious but when Charlie starts demanding answers, Jacob helps him accept the impossible and embrace Bella's new state by revealing his wolf transformation.
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is the thirteenth main installment of The Legend of Zelda series, released for both the Nintendo GameCube and Wii. It was highly anticipated by many members of the gaming community and was regarded as finally fulfilling the dreams of those who wanted a much more realistic and mature Zelda game, as seen in the SpaceWorld 2000 GameCube Tech Demo. It is the first, and so far only, Zelda game to be rated T by ESRB, and the first to be rated 12+ by PEGI, with rating descriptors including "animated blood" and "fantasy violence". The game is also notable for being the first console Zelda title released in the United States before Japan, as the Wii version was released in America on November 19, 2006, whereas the Japanese versions were released on December 2. Because of this, Twilight Princess was one of the launch titles for the Wii alongside Wii Sports in the United States.
Link, a young adult, is a ranch worker in Ordon Village in the Ordona Province of Hyrule.[8][9] His mentor Rusl asks him to present a gift to the Royal Family of Hyrule in his stead.[10] The following day, Link teaches the Village children Beth, Malo, and Talo how to use a Slingshot and a Sword. Talo spots a Monkey and proceeds to chase it into Faron Woods. Link and the rest of the children give chase.[11] Link ventures deep into the Woods and finds Talo and the Monkey trapped in a cage surrounded by Bokoblins.[12] He defeats the creatures and frees the pair.[13] They head back to the Village, and Rusl tells Link that he will depart for Hyrule the following day.[14] The next day, Link finishes his Goat-herding duties with his Horse, Epona before he prepares to leave. However, his childhood friend Ilia discovers that Epona's leg is injured, and scolds Link for hurting her.[15] She proceeds to take Epona to the Ordon Spring to heal her leg. Link follows her, and Colin tells her how Link saved Talo the day before. Ilia tells Link not to worry about his Horse and asks him to promise her to come home safely.[16]
At that moment, Bulblins break through the gate of the Spring and knock Link, Ilia, and Colin unconscious. The beasts kidnap Ilia and Colin and leave Link unconscious in the Spring. When Link regains consciousness, he finds Colin, Ilia, and Epona gone. He runs off into the Forest to find them, but finds a large black wall blocking the path. As he approaches it, a large and menacing black hand reaches out and pulls him through the wall into the darkness within.
Link finds himself on the other side, being strangled by a Shadow Beast, the creature who pulled him through the wall. The Triforce symbol on Link's hand glows, forcing the Beast to let go of him. A sharp pain runs through Link and he doubles over, transforming into a Wolf before passing out.[17] As Wolf Link, he is captured and held prisoner within the dungeons of Hyrule Castle,[18] which is covered by Twilight that has spread over Hyrule.[19] In his prison cell he encounters Midna, an imp with mysterious powers, who aids in his escape and helps him explore the Castle in his Wolf form.[20] In the tallest tower, he and Midna find a cloaked young woman. She immediately explains to Link how Hyrule came to be shrouded in Twilight,[19][21] and reveals her true identity as Princess Zelda.[22]
Midna returns Link to the World of Light. She tells Link that he cannot revert to his Human form yet,[23] and that he needs her cooperation to save his friends.[24] In his Wolf form, Link returns to Ordon Village to find it infested with Bulblins. He acquires the Sword intended for the Royal Family,[25] along with a Shield from the Village. Before Link returns to the wall of Twilight, he is summoned by Ordona, the Spirit of Ordon Spring and one of the four Spirits of Light who preside over Hyrule. Ordona explains to Link that its fellow Light Spirits were slain and robbed of their light by Shadow Beasts, turning Hyrule into a Twilight-covered netherworld.[26] Ordona tells Link that he must restore the light to Hyrule to regain his original form and abolish the Twilight from the land.[27] Link returns to the Twilight-covered Faron Woods and finds Faron, another one of the four Light Spirits. Faron tells Link that he must recover its Tears of Light from the Insects of Darkness that stole them to rid the Woods of the Twilight.[28] Link does so, and is restored to his Human form. Link finds himself wearing the Hero's Clothes, the same tunic that belonged to the chosen hero of the gods in years past.[29] Faron tells Link that his transformation into a Wolf was a sign that he is the chosen hero of the gods.[30] He explains that a dark power lies in the Forest Temple deep in Faron Woods, and that Link must obtain it to match the power of the King of Shadows.[31] Link makes his way through the Forest Temple, defeats the monstrous Diababa, and acquires the dark power Faron spoke of, the Fused Shadow. Midna tells Link that there are two other Fused Shadows in Hyrule, and urges him to find them.[32]
