Ihave been doing these walking workouts. but my flex is only recording about half of what I do. If I go in to activity tracker to log the other half in, it still doesn't add the miles or the steps. I'm still getting the beneficial workout, but if the fitbit is not accurate, what's the point in wasting the time or money. How do I add the other half of my workouts?
I'm having the same issue. It seems that some of her movements don't register on the fitbit. I think some people recommend filing the workout under aerobics, but I'm not sure that would provide an accurate number either since it's a combo of aerobics and steps that are missing. It's frustrating.
My 2 cents, you can choose to log this as an aerobic activity for the most accurate caloric burn; but your tracked steps will take a hit as @WendyB mentioned that your stride length is different on the routine. The other option is to leave your tracked data as is, but setting an activity through the tracker (tapping in when you begin and tapping out when you are done) will give you the specific steps, distance and caloric burn from your tracked data.
Maybe it is in how you are walking in place/moving your arms? I have done Leslie's workouts a few times since I got my Fitbit Flex and it tracks pretty accurately for me as far as steps/distance, ends up being just a little under a mile each time I do the one mile walk.
I have been a Leslie Sansone fan for years but I noticed I had to do a total of 8 miles to get to 9,000 steps. When I walk outside, 10K steps takes 1.5 - 1.75 hours. A similar, although not identical, amount of time.
When I use Leslies Dvds I move around more then she does. When she walks in place I I go forward an back. When she goes side to side I do but moving forward and back. So moving around more logs more steps. In 30 minutes I logged 3000 steps.
In my opinion, people shouldn't be surprised if a pedometer behaves like a pedometer. Having said that, even the Zip is far ahead what was available at any price about 10 or 15 years ago. Personally, I focus on calories burned instead of steps. The Fitbit is consistently about 15% lower over a month compared to my Surge. Some months, the Zip counts more steps and other months, the Surge counts more.
I had the same problem and here is how I solved it. I walk with Leslie Sansone but I don't wear my fit bit. I then log my walking exercise as one mile, or two or whatever. The fitbit dash board will then give you the steps that equal your walking mile. Because my stride is measured at 18 inches, my mile is 3,000 something steps so that is what the log gives me. Later, I sinc my fit bit and it adds those miles to my fitbit tracker. It works. If you want credit for a mile of steps then you have to work with the numbers. For instance if I walk a mile with Leslie and I want 5,280 steps, I then log 1.5 miles and it is pretty close. The issue is to not wear your tracker when you walk with her and later just sync it and it will be correct. I hope this helps.
I did my first 4 mile walk with LS today. She is great, motivating in such a happy, kind, positive way. This DVD came with a workout band, you use it during the last mile. I am thinking about getting another LS dvd, to keep from getting bored.
As well have a library of them. Probably 10 or so. How funny I saw this thread today and did my 1st walk in a LONG time last night. I cruise in August and decided to get off my rear and do something about this weight.
I am glad I saw this thread. I had some success with these tapes a few years ago but I have gained about 10 lbs back and want to lose them plus about 8 more. I'm starting this week with the 1 mile tapes. I promised myself if I don't have a reason to do so sooner, I will definitely book another cruise when I lose 18 lbs. I would love to hear from other WATP's fans to keep me motivated.l
My husband and I have been dieting / working out for a little less than 2 months. I am averaging 2 - 3 pounds a week. Working out 5 -6 days a week with a min of 45 cardio on these days. For my diet - sort of following the weight watchers process - portion control - lots of fiber and whole grained foods - 3 servings of fruit a day and min. 2 veggie servings per day. My husband has lost 35 lbs and I am at 16. I wanted to loose 20 prior to the cruise and I have 5 weeks so I hope I can continue and get there - however these last pounds are always the hardest for me!
If you get the wii - get the wii Active progam too - you won't regret it. I did the 30 day challenge it is a great work out and very motivating to stick with. I did that in combination with my Leslie Samsone DVD's and that has been working!!
for the info! It makes me know with dedication my goals are pretty reasonable. I'm doing 2 miles this week, I'll do 3 on Sat & Sun and then work up next week. I'm almost 50  and I can feel it in my knees so I am starting to take Glucosamine & Chondrotin hopefully that will help!
I've been doing the WATP tapes on and off for years, I really like Leslie and her gang. I'm at a point in life where I can't do those crazy aerobics anymore but really feel like I have to "do" something and walking inside when outside is impossible is a favorite of mine.
My friends and I, (two couples) will be going on the 7 day Mexican cruise on Princess Lines the first part of next year. We have been on 3 big trip together in the past, England, Italy and Egypt so now want to share the Cruise experience as well. I'm a contributor on TripAvisor and when I found this site thought I hit the Jackpot of cruise Forums. I know I'll have a lot of fun here. Thanks everyone in advance for all the info I know I will gather here in the upcoming months. :)
Is anyone still walking with Leslie? I had been walking with her a few years ago, and I started up again 2 months ago. I started up 3 times a week, doing only 1 mile videos. (I change the ones I use so I won't get bored.) At first, it really helped, but then, I started plateauing. Today, I got through the Power Mile without looking at the clock, so I think I am ready to rotate in some of the 2 mile videos.
I can walk for hours if I have a destination, but I get impatient doing the videos. Of course, when I am just walking somewhere, I am not doing any arm exercises - except for carrying shopping! Anyone else have the same problem?
