Izumu Niounomiya is a minor character from the Zaregoto series, and part of the Niounomiya Performing Arts Group. Him and Rizumu are twins, but to cover for this they act as one person with a split personality, never appearing at the same time. Izumu is a professional killer, while Rizumu is a detective.

Due to most of the statements about Izumu/Rizumu's connection being highly dubious with the later reveal that they're actually separate people, I've left them out of this thread. Similarly, as it was eventually revealed that most of the rumors about his fight with Aikawa were wrong, I'll only be showing the accurate one.

Izumu Niounomiya (匂宮 出夢, Niōnomiya Izumu), also known as Man Eater(Cannibal)(人喰い(マンイーター), Hitokui(Man Ītā)) is a the strongest hitman of the Niounomiya Troupe and the split personality/older brother of Rizumu Niounomiya.

It is later revealed that they aren't actually a split personality at all, but twins, using the facade of a split personality as a way to let Izumu move freely, with Rizumu being a puppet controlled remotely by him[4]. Before retiring, he used to be the Third Step of the Thirteen Stairs. When he joined, he was the Seventh Step[5].

In addition, Izumu truly does care for his sister, not seeing her as a mere puppet. In their relationship, he embodies all their the strength while she takes on their weakness. Izumu made the Nonsense User promise to become Rizumu's friend, as the girl had no real relationships, always being discarded and forgetting everything[6]. Once she died, he decided to give up on the hitman business at last, and to fight Jun Aikawa, the one known as Humanity's Strongest, in order to test his power[7]. After his battle with Aikawa, Izumu seems to have mellowed out. While traces of his manic personality still remain, he appears much calmer and jaded. After barely escaping alive from his battle, he decided he wouldn't try to fight her again, realizing she's too much for him. Since, when she was alive, she handled all of the parts of their everyday life, now, without her, Izumu is struggling to learn how to lead a normal life, and appears quite unstable, according to the Nonsense User. He has shown a more caring side by helping the Nonsense User even though he really had no reason to. When he pointed this out to Izumu, defying expectations, instead of becoming angry, but instead he blushed and tried to change the subject[5].

Izumu and Rizumu are a part of the Niounomiya Troupe, the strongest of the Killing Names. Their mental link, as well as Izumu's powerful body, are creations of the Kitsuregawa Research Institute[8]. However, their overwhelming strength became so unparalleled that even the Niounomiya abandoned them. Afterwards, they were picked up by Takashi Saitou as the Seventh and Eighth Steps of the Thirteen Stairs, and continued working under the man's orders, eventually climbing the ranks to Third and Fourth Step[5].

Kako se je ta ideja materializirala v filmskih delih, analizira skozi opus Françoisa Truffauta, utemeljitelja francoskega novega vala, ki je v začetku 60. let vzklil prav v idejah avtorske politike. Pojem avtorstva je bil še dolgo po izumu filma precej nejasen, s tem pa je bil vprašljiv tudi status filma kot umetnosti. Enakopraven ostalim umetniškim kategorijam je postal šele s prihodom nove generacije francoskih filmskih kritikov v 50. letih. Ti so ostro napadli tradicijo francoske kvalitete. François Truffaut je z esejem Une certaine tendance du cinéma française dvignil največ prahu in filme kvalitete obtožil neizvirnosti. S prihodom 60. let je z mladimi kritiki formiral obdobje novega vala. Za uveljavitev tega filmskega gibanja je zaslužen prav njegov celovečerni prvenec Les quatre cents coups (1959). Truffaut je vso kariero ostajal zvest ideji avtorske politike in bil hkrati komercialno razmeroma uspešen ter priljubljen. S svojim delom, v katerem je zapustil močen avtobiografski pečat, je vsekakor ključno vplival na to, da je film končno pridobil umetniški status ter da se je ideja avtorstva močno ukoreninila v pore filmske umetnosti.
