The song is part of our heritage. Keep it!

It may have been an honest mistake to send this message out to Celiacs but I think an apology is in order. I am part of the 14%. Believe, me, no one is catering to us. Being an atheist is a choice made after careful study.
I’d change lots of the words if I had the chance. Because my influence is limited, I just get to sing it this way all by myself. It’s a great and wonderful country that allows me the opportunity to express myself in this way. Take off your “resistance to change” hat and take a look at these lyrics. You might actually think they aren’t so bad. At the very least, it doesn’t leave the 14% of the no- God group, anyone who doesn’t call God “God”, people who have moved to this country or daughters.
Oh Canada our home and chosen land
True patriot love in all of us command
With glowing hearts we see thee rise
The true north strong and free
From far and wide oh Canada
We stand on guard for thee.
We’ll keep our land glorious and free
Oh Canada we stand on guard for thee
Oh Canada we stand on guard for thee.
Now, is that so horrible? Is change so terrifying? Will the country fall apart unless we all sing the same words – wait – a whole province sings different words and have done for over 100 years and Canada managed to get by.
So, you used up my time by sending this message. It’s only fair that I get to do the same. Incidentally, if this group is going to be a venue for this kind of thing, you can remove me off the list.
Thanks.
