In school and university education, mind maps are effective learning aids. By structuring information in a way that is compatible with visual learning styles, and by filtering long texts into shorter mind map topics, learners can absorb more information, faster.

Mind mapping gets your creative juices flowing and can inspire you to refine unformed ideas or discover new concepts. That's because mind maps use images and keywords to create new associations in your brain, which you can also transcribe with incredible speed.

In 2007, the first web-based mind map tool was released: MindMeister. With billions of ideas generated by over 25 million users worldwide, the tool has revolutionized ideation for business and education.

Bubbl.us lets you share your mind maps easily with people or on social media. Collaborate with friends or colleagues in real time in a classroom or a business meeting and see changes to the mind map immediately.

I've been a Tony Buzan Licensed Instructor for several years. (one of the few TBLIs in the USA). I've used Mind Manager, Mind Genius, iMindMap, Mindomo, MindMasterand others, but Xmind is BY FAR my favorite and my 'go to' mind mapping software. It's simple but powerful. The BEST feature is that Xmind works similarly on Android as it does on MS Windows. Of all of the MindMapping software that I use, I recommend Xmind to my students and clients more than any other program. Keep up the good work!!

made it super easy to use the mindmap as a fullscreen presentation tool. As a speaker, it helped stay focused on topic under discussion and not get lost with lots of context switching and scope creep. I think I will try it more

This software has changed my business and my life! The first step in creating my new business was born because my coach suggested using Xmind. In doing my first map I realized that what I had been doing in my 30 year career had value for others and it showed me a path to using it that I had never realized was there. I have since created multiple programs, teach others and have a platform for reaching thousands in my target market. It all started from one mind map! I have continued to use Xmind to create classes, write books and build my business. It's an amazing tool!

I was not convinced about mindmapping representation before I discover XMind. Now, 99% of my work of Microsoft Visio has been migrated to XMind and my headhaches have disappeared. Thank you for your product that have upgraded the quality of my work (creation of training supports and videos)

Xmind has been part of my super powers for awhile now. What a tool! I use it in so many ways. Recently I did a fish one chart (cause and effect) and then turned it into a action-aspiration diagram. Wow.

Store maps publicly in mindmap storage to share it anonymously. The url of a map is only known to you and unless you share it others can't open or guess it.This is a list of mind maps that are created by you. Click on the title of a map to open it.

You can save your mindmap in your browser's local storage. Uses space in your HDD. Stays there unless you clear your local storage. Space of HDD is the only limit. Useful for frequent backups in combination with cloud storage.

ClickUp offers hundreds of customizable features to help teams across industries improve their workflow from start to project closure. In fact, ClickUp has not one, but two powerful and functional tools for mind mapping: Mind Maps and Whiteboards.

Useful for any brainstorming session, mind mapping apps helps you plan and organize ideas for better clarity and understanding. It can also help you easily identify the best idea or solution from all the potentials you have.

Unless you want to lose your mind map to the ocean of other things you have to remember, using a piece of paper for mapping may not be the optimal way. If your idea has many moving parts, mapping it on a piece of paper can make it seem scattered and disconnected.

The problem with me is that when I start generating hundreds of ideas in my head, I don't organize my thoughts. In general, things that are organized are successful. For me to have successful and organized ideas, I must find a way to organize the generation of those ideas in my head, before they are even thought through. I found that the best way to do this is to draw a mind map

A mind map is a diagram used to represent words, ideas, tasks, or other items linked to and arranged radially around a central key word or idea. Mind maps are used to generate, visualize, structure, and classify ideas, and as an aid in study, organization, problem solving, decision making, and writing.

The best part about a mind map is that as you're generating ideas, the mind map expands them for you automatically. Plus, it's like documenting what's going on in your brain so you see the progression and flow of your thoughts.

A mind map is a diagram, or visual representation of ideas. Start by placing the main concept in the middle, and add branches to related ideas. In creating a mind map, individuals, teams, or whole organizations can discover how ideas relate to one another, helping to build more effective strategies and solve problems faster.

The three key components of a mind map are the central theme or concept, the ideas that surround it, and the relationship arrows that show how ideas connect to the central theme, as well as to one another.

Choose a platform to create your mind map. While you can do this by hand, using a pencil and paper, you can also use an online mind map maker like Creately where you can access intuitive mind mapping tools and pre-made mind map templates.

Identify the starting point of your mind map. This should be the topic or the subject your mind map will be created around, and it should be placed in the center. You can either use a symbol, image, or keyword to represent this central idea.

Add visual signifiers such as images, icons, and symbols to explain your ideas in more detail. In Creately, you can find images with built-in Google image search or add them straight from your device to create more data-rich mind maps.

If you are collaborating with others, you can quickly share the Creately workspace link with them or add them as collaborators to start brainstorming together. With live mouse tracking and synced previews, you can keep track of the ideas they add to the mind map and provide your feedback with contextual comments or in-app video chat.

The central theme or the main topic of the mind map is usually represented by an image that is closely associated with the subject matter you are exploring with your mind map. This can also be represented with a circle shape with the topic written in the middle.

These are the branches radiating from the center of the mind map. These are represented by curved lines. The thickness of the line can be used to indicate the weight of the association in the hierarchy of the mind map.

While mind maps summarize information, they use single keywords instead of sentences to represent the facts. Using keywords you can label each of these branches. These keywords can be placed on the branch line or you can use a node at the end of the branch to place it on.

? Note before we start: How we describe our users is important to the designer mindset. The word "user" is imo overused in tech and turns us into faceless masses feeding on a product. On the other hand, giving your users a name brings back the empathy (not to mention fun!). Niantic Labs for example calls their Ingress and Pokemon Go players "Agents" and "Trainers" respectively. I still use "users" as tech jargon in this article for ease of communication, but to me they are "House members", which I'll explain in a bit.

There were several steps that went into designing the MMN community, which is currently invite only. In the membership application, there are two specific questions that tell me what my audience is looking for in a mind mapping community.

This exercise helped me gauge if the final product will capture my users' needs. And if not, what features can I add to do so, such as a new discussion channel or "House" dedicated to professional mind mapping scenarios (more on this later).

Community Wins is one of my favorite channels because recognizing and celebrating our incremental successes is critical to growing in anything. Whether it's finishing a big presentation, closing out your latest 2-week sprint, or making your first mind map, this is where the whole community can root you on!

Why name them "houses"? Harry Potter references aside, a real world house provides a space for likeminded people to gather and mingle. Just like Gryffindor and Slytherin, I'd like my members to eventually grow to have their own identities as well as respect the diversity of our mindsets. Besides, just calling such an important part of the community "Channels" would be quite bland without any personality.

The other personas are: Creative Geniuses (Jonathon Ives and Ed Catmulls), Productivity Gurus (Ali Abdaals and Tiago Fortes), Tactical Masterminds (the professional LinkedIn crowd here and my coaching clients), and Sensitive Poets (Brene Browns and Paulo Coelhos).
