I've asked a lawyer in Edinburgh (who were recommended to me) for a quote for drawing up terms of service for relishapp. I referred them to github's and said I basically wanted something a lot like theirs.

They've quoted £1300 + VAT for privacy policy, terms of use and terms of services: three documents. Apparently the first two are pretty standard, but the last one is the one that will require some work.

What do you think? Is this reasonable?

cheers,
Matt

Matt

Our lawyers told us to download the T&C's and stuff from a site that
was like our, change the wording to reflect the differences and then
send them to them...

That way we didn't get the expense of actually writing them up - only
reviewing them.

Not sure how much we paid - but our lawyers are *very* expensive...

You might also be able to get a grant to offset the costs via Scottish
Enterprise.

Great advice. Worth checking whether Interactive Scotland (as part of Scottish Enterprise) can help.

We're being asked to collaborate to cut carbon - I wonder if we can collaborate to cut lawyers fees.
