To whomever it may concern,
IIT Guwahati invites you to be a part of its literary festival, Alfaaz. As a part of its literary fest, IIT Guwahati will host one of the most unique and innovative events in the country, The Budget.
The event will be an exclusive for the cream of India's colleges, and we hope your college, too, will be a part of it. The Budget will give participants the opportunity to model a budget for various sectors, working with underlying political motives and spending caps in mind, and then present their budget to their competitors, who'll throw a volley of question to see if the budget stands up to the test.
Participants will be competing directly with each other, critiquing each others budgets, and fending off queries to their own. And, with the nations budget coming out just a month earlier, competitors will get to see how it really feels like to influence who the nation spends its money.
To give you an idea of what the event is going to be like, the rule booklet for The Budget is attached with this email. You will be sent the booklet containing the scenarios of various sectors during the preliminary round, which you can register for by shooting a mail to the address given below.
Media representatives are expected to throng the event, and with the total prizes handed out during Alfaaz expected to cross the Re. 1 lakh mark, there will be more than pride on stake.
Over the course of the event, from the 21st to the 22nd of March, visiting teams will be provided with their own rooms and meals, all at nominal charge.
The Budget will kick off with the preliminary rounds, conducted online, on 20th Jan 2009.
Kindly put our official invite on your notice board.
Regards,
Shweta Raizada,
Member-Literary Society, IITG.
