Edison Parents Meeting and Elections on Wednesday at 5-7 pm

This Wednesday evening will be a meeting for all parents of Edison K8 School
students:

The first half of the meeting (5:00-6:00 pm) will be to nominate and elect new
parent representatives to the school's site council, and leadership positions
for the school's parent council.
The second half of the meeting (6:00-7:00 pm) will be our first meeting of the
year for the School Parent Council. All parents of Edison students are
automatically members of the parent council and encouraged to attend.
Please consider getting involved with your child's school by standing for
election either to the site council or leadership for the parent council!
Note that child care for school-aged children will be provided downstairs in the
cafeteria and/or gymnasium.
Site Council Representatives
Every fall we hold elections for parent representatives to the school's site
council. The site council includes teachers, parents, and the principal; it
helps to guide Edison school policies. The site council meets monthly on the
4th Friday at 7:00-8:15 am.
There are a total of seven parent representatives, each of whom serves a
staggered, two-year term -- hence there are at least 3-4 positions up for
election each year. Other interested parents can be elected as "alternate"
representatives to the site council.
Parent Council Leadership
Every fall we also hold elections for parent leadership positions in the
school's parent council. The parent council is the main organization for
parents to meeting together and discuss issues of common concern. It meets
monthly, usually on the 2nd Wednesday at 5:30-7:00 pm.
The parent leadership positions are: two co-chairs; two co-treasurers; and one
secretary. Parents elected to the leadership are generally expected to attend
the site council meetings as "alternate" members, substituting for site council
representatives when they are absent.
