Hi Guys,

We have been discussing our President's day golf trip for a few days and we are getting nowhere. I made a lot of studies of Myrtle Beach and Williamsburg. I think at the end of the day, Myrtle Beach is more fun because it's warmer and has more choices of golf. The travel has been the sticking point for Myrtle Beach, some want to fly and some want to drive. We have a solution for that also: the ones who want to drive will have to take a day off.

In term of golf and stay, we stay at Barefoot resort and we have two choices of golf packages:

1. Grand Slam Package

An extreme and challenging golf combo package only for the most serious players, the Grand Slam Package will give you a run for your money. Featuring some of the most rough and rugged terrain to be found in any golf course across the nation, the courses in this golf package are fully loaded and chomping at the bit.

Golf Courses Included:
Courses in this package have been awarded:
  • #1 Multi-Course Facility in Myrtle Beach
  • #1 Top 50 Courses in Myrtle Beach (Love Course)
  • #6 Top 50 courses in Myrtle Beach (Fazio Course)
  • #10 Top 50 Courses of Myrtle Beach (Dye Course)
  • #28 Top 50 Courses of Myrtle Beach" (Norman Course)

2. Barefoot Package

Play all Four Barefoot courses and 3 nights stay at Barefoot resort for $439 with Breakfast and unlimited range balls.

There are pros and cons for choosing either package. The Barefoot package will be easier on us in terms of schedule and convenience and a little bit cheaper. But we wouldn't play Caledonia which is the No. 27 of the best 100 public courses in American and  the best in Myrtle Beach.

If we choose Grand Slam Package, we will play two rounds at Caledonia and True Blue on Sunday (there are in the same resort). The down side is that it's going to be a tough day, both are extremely challenging golf courses!

The above are my thoughts and now we need action. Please response to this email and let me know:

1) your choice of package

2)your choice of travel

3) I'm not going or I want to go somewhere else

Once we get the responses in, we need to book the deal soon while it's still available.

Thanks for your attention and a quick response is appreciated!

Also, there are no limit on the number of spots, as long as we have an even number of golfers.

Yang,

Thanks for the info.

I called Mike Alfano yesterday regarding our Feb trip at Myrtle Beach.  The $185 three nights and 6 rounds of golf deal will not be available from 2/15 – 2/17.  The current price will be $289 person which includes three nights of hotel, 6 rounds of golf at three different courses and free lunch each day which is still a lot cheaper than the package you listed here.  I know these courses on your list are some of the best courses in MB.

Personally, I prefer to fly there just to save two days on the road and the flight ticket will be just about $200 for round trip.  For person who is going to fly there, we just need to nights of hotel since we can fly back at 9:30pm on 2/17.  For person who is going to drive, then it is better to book three nights instead of two and drive back on 2/18 morning.

Dan

Lao Ai,

Sure, we can car pool to the airport.  Tom and Bill will take the same flight too.  Does someone have a van?  We need a bigger car to put all these golf bags.  Or we can drive two cars to get there.

Tom is going to book the fight today.  May be you can ask him to add two more person.  The airline is called Spirit Air Line.

Tom and Bill,

What do you think?

Also, we need to book a van at MB.  I can take care of that if it is ok with you.

Dan

I did a bid for minivan, priceline. Will find out later. This is for transportation from mb airport to courses while in South Carolina.

Bill, Dan and Tom,

I find the following message for Pirit Air.

Can I bring my golf clubs on my trip?

Spirit Airlines Customer Relations Agent Michael
posted this on March 21, 2013 04:37 PM

Absolutely!  We make it easy for you to bring your golf clubs on your next trip.  Golf equipment is charged as a standard checked bag.  Golf equipment is considered one golf bag with up to 14 golf clubs, 12 golf balls, and one pair of golf shoes.  You can also bring a pull cart if it is attached to the golf bag.  We recommend a hard sided carrier to protect your clubs from shifting during the flight.
Don’t worry if your sticks are a little big - we waive oversize charges on golf equipment.  However, please be mindful that golf equipment over 40 pounds (18.1 kg) is considered overweight and costs more, so save by keeping your bag light.
A limited liability release will need to be signed when travelling with golf clubs.

Hi Tommy,

When did you pay it, when buying the tickets? Did you buy the tickets directly from spirit?  We bought from CheapOair and did not have an option to pay it.  I guess we shall pay it during eCheck in.  Any information sharing about the Spirit is appreciated.
