Ben Venue is not quite a Corbett but is still a fine rocky mountain with 2 tops and lovely views. The beautiful broadleaved woodland of the lower Ledard Glen provides a picturesque approach, though the upper glen is boggy. Once on the ridge, the views are magnificent. For more info see http://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/lochlomond/ledard.shtml.
Distance:11.5km/7 miles
Time: about 6 hours
Ascent: 812m (Profile)
Start time: 8am at the Fairmilehead (Swanston Drive beside now bulldozed Fairmile Inn)
Please remember to bring walking boots (well waterproofed to handle boggy areas), full waterproofs, hat, gloves, and plenty of food and liquids.
If the weather is poor we will either do a walk of similar calibre where better weather is predicted, or if it looks bad everywhere opt for a lower level walk.
If you would like to come please RSVP on the Ning website (http://edinburghyoungwalkers.ning.com/events/40s-eyw-ben-venue-from-loch-ard-grade-a) and indicate in a comment if you can drive (priority may need to be given to drivers if we are short on cars), alternatively email me at hkbro...@hotmail.com. Also if you have any relevant medical conditions please let me know by email anyway. Note EYW+ walks are now being advertised and administered via the Ning website and you will be asked to register with the site in order to view the walk page and RSVP.
Thanks
Helen
PS I am on holiday 19-26 Oct so probably cannot answer emails during that period.
