Dear Neighbors,
Happy Pride Month! This month of June is also significant because our City is deliberating on the city budget. I am committed to fighting for our district’s core services to be funded and accessible, and to resist balancing our city’s budget on the backs of our most vulnerable, immigrants, youth, seniors, and working families.
My May 2025 highlights:

Convened 20+ District 11 service providers and groups to meet with Mayor Lurie, sharing our community stories and priorities – from senior services to job placement programs to food security. We secured support from the Mayor to have regular visits to our district, engage with our small businesses and organizations, and collaborate with us to get a new Ocean View library

Supported worker rights at the youth-led rally on May Day
-
Joined a 12-hour fast to support restoring state funding to education, food assistance, and Medicaid
-
Advocated for vital acupuncture benefit to be restored in the state budget for Medi-CAL
-
Learned about the systems and challenges involved in supporting families facing homelessness
-
Hosted coffee hour chats to meet with constituents directly in the district
-
Helped organize a fire safety workshop for seniors at Self Help for the Elderly’s Geneva Center
-
Celebrated AAPI Month at events like the inauguration of the Pacific Islander Cultural District and CHOW FUN food festival
-
Welcomed several new small businesses – Ink City Studio and Diana Maradiaga Boutique – at their grand openings in District 11
-
Biked with transit advocates and students to school

Continued meeting with constituents and stakeholders to learn about their budget needs

M Ocean View Transit and Safety Project
SFMTA is installing a transit lane on San Jose Avenue, in order to improve reliability for the M Ocean View’s 18,000 daily riders, help reduce traffic speeding on San Jose Ave, and make San Jose Ave safer for all who use it. |

The City’s Refuse Rates Administrator will propose a new rate schedule to the Refuse Rate Board after negotiating with Recology to protect consumers. Some important things to note about the Administrator’s proposed monthly refuse collection rates and the rest of the proposal:

Rates have not kept up with costs increase over the past few years and stayed low compared to other nearby Bay Area cities

Administrator successfully negotiated down the increases original proposed by Recology
-
Administrator is implementing stringent regulatory controls to prevent future misuse of funds
Residential property owners can formally protest the proposed refuse rate increases, either by mail or in person.

PUC and SFPD did a joint operation at the District 8 and District 11 border to resolve encampment-related issues while protecting a vital high pressure water line.

| SFMTA is partnering with neighborhoods, community organizations, merchants, and other agencies to to create a Mobility Hub at Balboa Park Station. Their goal is to create inviting spaces near major transit points that bring together buses, trains, bikes, pedestrians, wheelchairs, other travel options, community services, amenities, and programming in one convenient location to encourage alternative transportation options. Please share your input by filling out this survey. |

| Caltrans will soon rehabilitate 4 areas of SF’s major freeway arteries, referred to as the Fab-4 Rehab projects to create safer and smoother driving experiences in and around SF. Two of these projects are along the Bayshore and Central freeways US-101 and I-80. A third project will be repaving the entire 19th Ave (SR-1) between the Golden Gate Bridge and SF State University. The fourth project is the rebuilding of an outdated pedestrian overcrossing on the I-280 near Cayuga Park. Read more about these projects here

| 🚶🏽🚌The Transportation Authority has launched community outreach for the San Francisco Transportation Plan 2050, or SFTP+, the blueprint for the city's transportation system development and investment over the next 30 years, and wants to hear from you!
The plan analyzes all transportation options like transit, walking, driving, and biking to set investment priorities and advance the city’s goal to build an effective, equitable, and sustainable transportation system. Your input will shape how SFTP will improve economic vitality, safety and livability, transportation equity, and sustainability in SF.

The Rose Pak Community Fund's annual scholarship application is approaching its deadline! online application here. Up to seven applicants will be selected, with each scholarship recipient receiving an award of $5,000, to be paid directly to the school's financial aid office towards tuition costs. DCYF's Youth Empowerment Project Cohort Application is Now Open! It is a 13-week summer opportunity for SF youth ages 18–24. Inspired by the principles of youth empowerment and DCYF's ongoing commitment to uplift youth voices, the program offers a space to learn about local government, develop leadership skills, connect with peers, and collaborate to influence policies and decisions that impact children, youth, and young adults in San Francisco.
