That's a Wrap!
Huge thanks to everyone who came out and supported the 2025 season of From The E: Excelsior Night Market!

CALSAVERS

🚨 Head's up! The deadline for employers with one or more employees to register with CalSavers is this month! Non-compliance may result in financial penalties, so don't delay.

Visit https://employer.calsavers.com for information and step-by-step instructions.

California state law requires employers of California workers to participate in CalSavers if they do not sponsor a retirement plan and have one or more eligible employee. Each activity must be completed by specific deadlines.

Facilitation or Exemption Deadline: December 31, 2025

What is CalSavers?
CalSavers is California’s new retirement savings program for workers who do not currently have a way to save at work. It’s simple and completely voluntary for employees.

• Funded by employee savings (no employer fees or
contributions)
• Employee participation is completely voluntary and they can opt in or out at any time
• Administered by a private-sector financial services
firm and overseen by a public board chaired by the
State Treasurer

Limited employer role
• Upload employee information to CalSavers
• Submit participating employee contributions to CalSavers via simple payroll deduction
• In addition to no employer fees, employers have no fiduciary responsibilities

SFRPD COMMUNITY OPPORTUNITY FUND

The San Francisco Recreation and Park Department is pleased to announce that nominations for Community Opportunity Fund (COF) project grants will open in January!  Applications will be accepted January 2026 through March 2026.

COF is a citywide capital improvement program funded by General Obligation Bonds that provides an opportunity for neighbors, community groups, park advocates, and partners to nominate their park project ideas for funding.

The previous five rounds of COF funded more than $17 million in community-nominated projects at 35 city parks, including improvements at Bayview K.C. Jones Playground, Golden Gate Heights Park, Fillmore Turk Mini Park, and Zion Skate Plaza (Waller Street Skate Park). This is the COF’s sixth application cycle and the City has allocated $6 million from the 2020 Health and Recovery Bond for this round of project awards.  Awards of up to $1.5M will be offered for large projects and up to $500K for small projects.

The process for nominating projects is intended to be easy and accessible for everyone. All interested parties are encouraged to complete an application, attend an info session, or reach out for more information.

Once the application period closes, all nominated projects will be evaluated by a Rec and Park-led review panel. Then, the San Francisco Recreation and Park Commission will review the panel’s recommendations and make award decisions by mid-2026.

Please visit the program’s website for more details about the program. We look forward to receiving your application!

Mission Science Workshop

Right now, Vancent—our mobile science van—is halfway there. With the school year ahead and demand from Title-1 schools growing, we’re at a critical moment. One final push will allow us to bring more impactful programs to more classrooms, reach more neighborhoods, and ensure that every child has access to high-quality science learning in 2026.

Help us reach our goal of 50K this Holiday Season by donating to our Holiday Campaign. Your donation will be matched today and count double! Your donation is tax deductible and can also be matched by your employer. Thank you!
