Hello Tina,

Thank you so much for your follow up to our October EDIA meeting.  I'm forwarding your information to our distribution list.  For those of you who were not able to attend the meeting, our Assessor-Recorder, Joaquin Torres, provided an outstanding presentation, which is attached, and an informative Q&A session at our meeting.  Mr. Torres and his entire office are doing wonderful work to keep our San Francisco communities informed, and his visit to our Excelsior community was greatly appreciated.

Best regards,
Mel

Hello Mel,

Thank you and EDIA for welcoming Assessor Torres and our team yesterday. We’re happy many of the attendees found it useful. I’m sharing the slide deck (attached) to distribute to attendees. It has an updated Base Year Value Transfer example on slide #22. We are also sharing our staff’s answer to an unanswered question from the audience.

Question: If I own property and I want to add my husband to title, will this trigger a reassessment?

Answer: No, adding a spouse to title will not trigger a reassessment. Source: Revenue and Taxation Code section 63 (see attached), Inter-Spousal Exclusion | CCSF Office of Assessor-Recorder

Please share this with the group when you have a chance. We look forward to collaborating with you again! Have a good rest of the week.

Best,
Tina Novero
