Greetings EDIA Members, Neighbors and Friends –

Hello,

I'm writing to invite you to our next EDIA meeting this coming Tuesday, April 28th at 6:00 P.M. at the usual place, the Crocker Amazon Clubhouse.

This meeting will have a single focus -
Strategizing community outreach for the possible expansion of the Residential Parking Program (RPP).

I believe our only hope for getting a Residential Parking Program (RPP) in the Excelsior is with the individual volunteer involvement of neighbors to communicate the benefits of the program directly to other neighbors who are less aware of the details of the RPP.

I'd like for any interested individuals interested in moving the RPP forward to please attend this meeting to discuss a nuts and bolts strategy to accomplish the goal.

In order to accomplish the goal many things need to be considered and communicated to the neighbors within our community.  This will require door to door visits to communicate some of the following:

  • Most residents agree that parking is a problem in the Excelsior, particularly in the evenings when everyone returns back home.
  • Businesses along the commercial corridors are affected too and can also participate in the RPP.
  • Residents may be opposed to the cost of the annual program and feel they don't want to have it because they will have to pay, but everyone will not be required to participate.
  • Many residents who have a garage may not feel they need the RPP because they don't have issues with parking on the street.  They still can support the program and vote in favor of it for the general benefit to their neighbors and the neighborhood.
  • Residents may not understand the details of how the program works and the need to attach to an existing RPP area, which means that we need to strategize where to focus our outreach, to get the homes on board closer to the existing RPP area, such as those along Seneca and closer to Alemany.
  • Your ideas, strategies and actions are critical to the success of the establishment of the RPP and the improvement of the parking problems in the neighborhood.

If you care about the parking situation in the Excelsior and establishing this RPP program, please join us for this working, planning session and encourage other neighbors to attend.
We need many voices and volunteers to accomplish this goal to fix a situation that most community members agree is a problem.

Thank you.
