July 09, 2024 McLaren Trails | Tree work begins on University HillOur contractor has wrapped up initial work south of the Jerry Garcia Amphitheater, and has moved out of the area to accommodate Shakespeare summer camps. The remainder of the tree work in this area will resume after a stretch of summer events. We continue to work closely with our contractor to ensure that tree work does not interfere with any special events at the Amphitheater, and that precious natural resources are protected and enhanced through the course of the work. Arborist Now is currently mobilizing for tree work across Shelley Drive East, in the urban forest on University Hill. Work in this area includes a significant amount of pruning and tree removals to accommodate the future multi-use ribbon trail with no box steps, which will wiggle its way up the hill from Louis Sutter Playground to the sports courts near Mansell. There are also some removals to thin crowded trees and enhance habitat quality in this zone. Please see the site plan below. For your own safety, please do not enter the closure area. Please use the highlighted pedestrian paths and follow all posted signs.
