Hello,

Could you please let us know how we can handle the provenance in the Assessment section?

As per CCDA guide, assessments do not support the author tag.

Looking forward to your response.

Regards,
Kevin

Hi, Kevin,

Are you getting a specific error?

The PDF C-CDA guide didn't paste in the Author provenance everywhere it's allowed - instead it has this text in Provenance Author Participant:

This Participation is appropriate at any place CDA allows an author. For example, at the CDA Header, CDA Section, CDA Entry, or within a CDA entry (e.g. Organizer and contained Observation(s)).

Hello Brett,

Can you please share any example of author participation in the assessment for the CCDA for the better understanding?

In the CCDA guide, the template does not support provenance thats why it is creating the confusion at our end.

Hi, Kevin,

Are you getting specific error? Here is an example Provenance - Author which can be placed after Observation/value:
<!-- Provenance Author Participation template --> <author> <templateId root="2.16.840.1.113883.10.20.22.5.6" extension="2019-10-01"/> <time value="201308011235-0800" /> <assignedAuthor> <id root="2.16.840.1.113883.4.6" extension="1234567890"/> <code code="163W00000X" codeSystem="2.16.840.1.113883.6.101" codeSystemName="Health Care Provider Taxonomy" displayName="Registered nurse" /> <addr use="WP"> <streetAddressLine>22 Sample Street</streetAddressLine> <city>Beaverton</city> <state>OR</state> <postalCode>97867</postalCode> <country>US</country> </addr> <telecom value="tel:+1(555)555-2008" use="MC" /> <assignedPerson> <name> <given>Nurse</given> <family>Nightingale</family> <suffix>RN</suffix> </name> </assignedPerson> <representedOrganization> <id root="2.16.840.1.113883.4.2" extension="1111-22"/> <id root="2.16.840.1.113883.4.6" extension="1112233344" /> <name>Good Health Hospital</name> <telecom value="tel:+1(555)555-2003" /> </representedOrganization> </assignedAuthor> </author>

I think the answer to your question Kevin is 2 fold

1. The Assessments Section template doesn't show any indication that the Provenance Author element can be used, as you've already confirmed.

2. If you want an alternative way to reflect Provenance within the template restrictions, you can use the narrative text of the Assessments Section to state Provenance or any other additional details.

Let's see if Brett agrees or disagrees with this stance.

For Brett, it looks like Kevin is talking specifically about the Assessments Section.

Thanks - Mat
