Hi all. For our updated Alice Newman b.1 test patient in USCDI v3, we have the new Occupation and Occupation Industry data elements. The test data sheet says "These data elements are to be represented as Basic Occupation and Basic Occupation Industry Observations", and you can find those observations in the CCDA Companion Guide linked below.

My question/issue is that I am able to submit a Alice Newman test patient on scenario 1 validation WITHOUT the  Basic Occupation and Basic Occupation Industry Observations entries present in Social Hisotry nor having that test data anywhere in the C-CDA and the tool passes it without error. See attached file - Occupation section has been commented out.

Basically, the test tool is giving a false positive result and providing a false sense of compliance. It might not be until a visual inspection by the ATL that the developer determines they are missing a required section.

Is there a reason we are not checking for this section in the CCDA or is there plans to do so in the future?

Hello Kyle,

Could you please provide the sample CCDA you submitted on this ticket.

Thank you,
Kim

I ran the sample file without basic industry or basic occupation industry through the validator and it produced the expected error. Can you try again?

Issue has now been resolved in subsequent updates. I emailed Kim that I confirmed it was fixed last month, but the mail went just to her rather than this group. This can be closed out. Thanks.

Kyle
