We are currently working with the SNOMEDCT_USEditionRF2_PRODUCTION_20220301T120000Z release, which contains over 11 lakh (1.1 million+) records.
I’d like to open a discussion on the following points:
Data Management: What are the best practices for handling such a large dataset within an application? Should we consider indexing, partitioning, or selective loading strategies to optimize performance?
UI Considerations: Is it really necessary to expose all SNOMED CT codes directly in the user interface, or would it be more practical to implement search-driven or context-based retrieval?
Use Case Alignment: How do other teams balance between comprehensive terminology coverage and usability? Are there recommended approaches for filtering or limiting what is shown to end users?
Reference: For context, here is the official SNOMED CT archive from NLM: SNOMED CT Archive. https://www.nlm.nih.gov/healthit/snomedct/archive.html
Your insights and experiences will be very valuable in helping us design a scalable and user-friendly solution.
