Hi, I am encountering an error trying to connect to the SMTP server to test 170.315(b)(1), SMTP only.

This is my configuration:
        "Address": "james.healthit.gov",
        "Port": "465",
        "Account": "vendor...@james.healthit.gov",
        "Password": "vendortesting123"

When I attempt to connect, I get:
"A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond. 35.169.165.4:465"

I am attempting to perform this part of the test "For Test 18 the SUT needs to connect to the ETT SMTP server using the credentials vendor...@james.healthit.gov / vendortesting123 and send an email to wellf...@ett.healthit.gov".

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Scott

Use port 25 not 465.

Okay, that got me further along but now I get:
" An error occurred while attempting to establish an SSL or TLS connection. The host name did not match the name given in the server's SSL certificate."

If it helps, I'm using .Net Core Mailkit to make the connection. So, I have a lot more options if other settings are required.

The server uses a self-signed certificate. You need to accept the cert and move forward. I am not sure what are the settings for that in.Net

I found the answer, in case anyone else needs this information. To accept self signed certs in MailKit you have create a handler described in this link:

Thanks for the help.
