Sultan Hussain Shah Sharqi, after being defeated by Bahlol Lodi, retired to Bihar, where his occupation was confined to a small territory. In 1494, he was again defeated by Sultan Sikandar Lodi and fled to Bengal, where he was granted asylum by Sultan Ala-ud-Din Husain Shah.[17] This resulted in an expedition against Bengal in 1495 by Sultan Sikandar Lodi. Husain Shah of Bengal sent an army under his son Shahzada Danyal to fight with the Delhi army. The armies of Delhi and Bengal met at Barh near Patna. Sikandar Lodi halted the advance of his army and concluded a treaty of friendship with Ala-ud-din Husain Shah. According to this agreement, the country west of Barh went to Sikandar Lodi while the country east of Barh remained under Husain Shah of Bengal. The final dissolution of the Jaunpur Sultanate resulted in the influx of the Jaunpur soldiery in the Bengal army, which was further strengthened by it.[1]

Hussain was staying in the rented accommodation with some other students since July this year. His friends raised an alarm when he did not step out of his room till 8 p.m. and did not answer to their calls. Police rushed to the spot, when the landlord informed them, and broke the door open to find the youth hanging.

Consider the following statements about Alauddin Hussain Shah.
(1) He is considered as the greatest independent Bengal ruler.
(2) He entered into a treaty of friendship with Sikander Lodi.
(3) Although he desecrated the Puri Jagannath temple, he followed a tolerant policy towards the Hindus.
Which of the statements given above is/are correct?

Upon deep study of many primary sources of friends, family and foes of Suhrawardy, it is clear that assuming bad intent on behalf of such a tremendous figure is both disingenuous and tends to serve the interests of whoever is charging Suhrawardy with historical injustices. Suhrawardy ruled in three countries during the crucial Independence era, upholding democracy, the rule of law and diplomacy, but his policy decisions resulted in him being hated in some circles while endlessly adored in others.

Cyrille Radcliffe, a High Court Judge of England, was a personal friend of Jinnah and on their integrity, laid the hopes of the final partitioning of Punjab and Bengal to settle the borders of Pakistan.

Politics exists within a vacuum of interests, which one can only pick and choose from. Suhrawardy chose and picked within his lifetime and with his career, winning him friends and enemies within the three countries he ruled in.

Although all the youths had faced some form of abuse for their identity and language in school, their experiences were more positive than those of Hussain and his friends. All the Bihari youths had Bengali friends and they had found more acceptance in schools. However, Bihari youths still experienced discrimination for not being able to study in their mother tongue as their Bengali friends did. Linguistic discrimination extended beyond the medium of instruction to what they learned as well. At school, Bihari youth were taught about the Bengali language and culture, but nothing about their own cultural traditions. Any mention of Biharis in school books characterized them as traitors. As a result, Bihari youths felt quite ashamed of their identity in schools. The feeling of marginalization was amplified by their interactions with mainstream society, where speaking Urdu made them targets for harassment and ridicule. These young Biharis never understood what made the target of such hate. Kajol Rekha, a university student who was volunteering for the council of minorities, remembers her experience trying to rent an apartment outside the camp. The landlord told her that he would not rent her the apartment as soon he found out that Kajol was a Bihari.

Bio: Henry became interested in all things culinary and baking at the age of 12, as he was intrigued by the Bake Off tent that was pitched up in his local park. He started experimenting in the kitchen and supplied his family, friends and teachers with a variety of bakes. Now studying English literature at Durham University, he enjoys feeding his housemates with his creations.

He says: "The most surprised [that I am in Bake Off] will be a couple who are long-term friends and they had been staying with us recently and said you make such wonderful cakes, but have never mentioned to me that I should go on Bake Off, so I think they haven't a clue that I would be in it."

A wedding present of a stand mixer seven years ago only boosted her passion even more, and she is known to toil for hours into the night baking bread and also for delivering bags of tasty treats to friends and family. She lives in Leicester with her husband and their two children.

She currently lives in London and works as a sportswear designer.

Bio: Dan says he is largely a self-taught baker, but has memories of watching his mother bake a Victoria sponge as a child and his Army chef father coming to his school to teach how to bake and plait bread. He became serious about baking at the age of 21 while trying to impress his girlfriend Laura, who is now his wife, with a themed birthday cake.
