edcampLA / CUELA reboot

Hey folks. I hope you're all enjoying summer in some capacity. I was contacted by Jolina Clément from CUELA about possibly doing an edcampLA/CUELA crossover thing. They're looking to hold an event in November but want to do an unconference. This seemed like a good opportunity to have another edcamp in LA. They have a site secured already, Melrose Elementary.

Anyway, let me know your thoughts.

Hi Matt and All,

I was contacted by USC in July and was waiting to share this but we are confirmed to hold edcampLA at USC in October.

We held edcampLeader LA there and it was great! They loved the idea of supporting our LA, edcamp team. 

They are excited to get involved, bring and invite their alums and you all were on my list to email this week or next!

We were given 2 dates and just waiting to confirm those. They are both NON FOOTBALL weekends. :)

October 15 or 22 were available and just waiting for confirmation.

I've done a lot of leg work on this, and I don't want to turn down USC for edcampLA. 

Excited to share the date with you all, so hope those that want to will be on board.

Thanks for the update, Lisa--that sounds great! A heads-up that there's a Google Summit scheduled for the 15th in Inglewood, in case that helps with the decision.

I'm already booked on both dates and won't be able to help out, unfortunately. Can't wait to learn more about it!

That's wonderful about the USC folks wanting to be involved with edcampLA. But I'm wondering what the process was for deciding to move forward with this. Was this brought to the group? I don't see any prior messages. But I know I haven't been involved in a while so I might have missed something.

Hi Everyone,

CUELA is determined to do an edcamp on Nov. 5 at Melrose Elementary in Hollywood. It seemed that it'd have a "maker" theme, but on further consideration, it will have a traditional flavor and span only half the day. I hope it doesn't conflict with any other plans, and everyone here is, of course, invited to help out.
