Welcome, Prasanna! So glad to have you!
Maybe we can spend this week exchanging questions about math practices in different places? Everybody can answer about countries they know well. I will start.
My question to Prasanna and everybody:
"What is a good example of little games parents in your countries play with young kids?"

For example, in Russia parents believe that agile fingers help with reading, writing and math! There are many finger games parents play with babies and toddlers. Games include recitation - another technique many Russians believe is good for learning math. Here is a video example:

Translation:
A magpie was making some kasha (mom circles middle of the kid's hand, as if stirring kasha)
She was feeding her kids,
She gave some to this one, and some to that one (fold fingers one by one; Russians fold fingers to count rather than unfold, like Americans - I think a spy was once caught over it!)
She gave some yogurt to this one,
She gave some milk to that one,
And nothing but tickles for that last lazy one! (mom tickles the kid)
In this video, the mom moves the baby's hands and recites the poem. Later, toddlers start inserting some key words and moving some of the fingers themselves, then reciting the whole poem and doing all the movements.
