All,

We just got word that the orientation picnic is BYOB this year which, while fun, will greatly increase the administrative issues with event planning. I know many of you do not plan to come but I'm asking for your help spreading the word to other PhD students who I don't know who might wish to attend. From what I understand we have some late crashers every year but, because of the BYOB thing, we can't have that this year.

All people who wish to attend must have their names on an SOE list as of August 19th or they will not be allowed to attend.

If you'd like to attend, let me or Sara McDonald know and we'll get you on the list. Friends, spouses and family must be on the list too.

Please let anyone you know who MIGHT attend so that we don't have to send this to the whole SOE and open an enormous can of worms.

Whew!

Sorry for these last minute emails. The BYOB thing just fell through because we were unable to get enough licensed servers. So, don't bring alcohol to the event please.

Also, any of you who've volunteered to come help in the afternoon, could you bring a bag of ice with you? We have a couple of coolers that need to be filled. I will make sure to pay you back immediately for any money you spend.
