i was concerned with everything drying out that the bees would be finding less nectar. i think they've done remarkably well filling boxes...but i see the CRASH coming. farmers who've cut HAY....it's gone dormant - just like our grass. only time will tell. here's me thinking into the next couple months. if they've filled my boxes - thank you very much...and i take it...and WE BEEKEEPERS give them SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER to find the last blossoms of the season to fill every nook and cranny in the hive with honey for winter....
i'm actually thinking of taking the honey supers off a COUPLE WEEKS early - maybe mid august. so they have enough time and resources to store for themselves.
the hives that are bursting with bees - i'm going to give another deep to fill after i take my honey supers off. yes - overwinter with 3 highs again. i really like that - cause if they make it - it makes for an "easier" spring split.
