Hi folks,
I hope everyone enjoyed either a rest weekend or a couple of cross races. The upcoming weekend is Down East cross in New Gloucester, Maine. Super fun course on a dairy farm including a barn pass through. Hope you folks can make it.
This weeks ECV Cyclocross Practice of 2011 will be held on Thursday at 5:00pm at Bradley Palmer State Park, again due to cross country meet conflicts. Wednesday weather sounds like a bust anyhow. It is getting very dark early now, so I suggest we start around 5. This will be difficult for me to get there on time so start without me, I'll catch up as soon as I can.
We will have practice each Wednesday through the end of October, with some exceptions due to conflicts with Danvers and Masco’s x-country meets.
The dates are as follows: Sept: 7, 15, 21, 28
Oct: 5, 13, 20, 26
I will post a reminder each week and any cancellations due to bad weather, etc. I’ll being setting the course up a bit early so if anyone would like to join in on the fun swing on by.
If you are new to the cross list or have never been to this practice,
please READ THIS ENTIRE EMAIL.
You can either park at Cutler School and ride down (it's only about a
5 minute ride) or park at the Bradley Palmer lot directly across from
the Pingree School. There is also a parking lot off the Asbury Street entrance to BP and bike to the practice area. The course is centered near the kid’s fountain area, off the paved road as you enter from the Pingree side gate.
Get Directions to Cutler School:
237 Asbury Street, South Hamilton, MA 01982-1839
If you're new to cross and need some pointers, please arrive at the
park promptly at 5:30pm and we'll give you a cross 101 primer.
*** Note - In the past (before my time), there have been car break-ins at Bradley
Palmer and other North Shore parks. Some of us park at Cutler School 10 or 15 minutes
prior to practice and then pedal down to the park. I would recommend
this.
For those who are new to these practices, I purposely do not over
publicize these because we try to keep the numbers of those attending
low. There are other users in the park and we cannot get in the way.
All it takes is one or two upset pedestrians to keep us out of the
park.
You're very welcome to attend, but please keep it hush hush. Don't
invite 10 of your friends.
My having people join this email list is a way for me to keep some
control over
the numbers of those who attend. If you would like to be part of this group and receive emails from the group pertaining to cross practice then create a membership at the following:
To reiterate: the ECV cross practice is not a race! If you are riding
and see pedestrians or horse riders nearby, show courtesy! Slow down, maybe even stop, say hello.
