To my educated and educator friends:

Jenni, whom I know well, is creating an open (free) online education platform for Canada! (non-profit);  Amazing, and revolutionary!

“The purpose of this venture is to partner with colleges, universities, community organizations and even individuals to build and teach online courses, large or small, long or short in duration, on any topic that might benefit Canadian learners, in any language at all. That's it. Simple idea, complex execution. Very few higher education institutions have anything resembling an open education policy. I hope to help them with that.”

“Topics for instruction will absolutely include social justice teaching and learning as a high priority.”

more details below, and at web site  www.wideworlded.org

If you have any questions, ideas, contacts, support, please contact Jenni directly  jenni....@gmail.com

Thanks

Hello my great and amazing friends in the TSP Community,

You are all the exact people who need to hear about something that I'm doing. Not least because you can provide me with exceptionally amazing feedback and recommendations based on your vast experience in education realms, and most of all because you have the capacity to talk about it and share it with people who need to write about it and participate in it. If you know any members of the media personally, please forward this information to them. I have a press conference Tuesday morning! The most important support in this is sharing it out through your communication channels.

This is my website www.wideworlded.org and you can learn some things about it there.

I am launching (and bootstrapping into existence) an open (and by that I mean completely free to the learners), online education platform for Canada. It's not-for-profit seeking charitable status.

The purpose of this venture is to partner with colleges, universities, community organizations and even individuals to build and teach online courses, large or small, long or short in duration, on any topic that might benefit Canadian learners, in any language at all. That's it. Simple idea, complex execution. Very few higher education institutions have anything resembling an open education policy. I hope to help them with that.

Funding is going to rely on foundations, grants, sponsorship opportunities, academic research grants with partners, and individual donations from learners who like what they experience and believe it open education. If by any chance the Government of Canada, or provincial ministries of education agree that this is a good idea to explore, I might find some traction and support there. It remains to be explored.

Topics for instruction will absolutely include social justice teaching and learning as a high priority.

My summer job will be setting up the infrastructure and convincing course builders to build and launch.

Oh yes, and continuing to help look after our amazing community as Chair of the Board at TSP. If I appear distracted, this is probably why. Don't be fooled though, I have my eye on the prize and could not be more energized or passionate about all that everyone is doing toward our success. Please continue to let me know any of the ways I can help keep us moving!

Thank you for your support and encouragement. Any ideas you have about this ridiculous feat of staggering importance, please share with me and communicate in any way that suits your style.

Best,
Jenni

Jenni Hayman
Chair
Trinity-St. Paul's United Church Board
