October Meeting

Rubyists,

The October meeting is happening this Thursday at Dooley's Pub. This
week, Nick LaMuro is going to talk about Vagrant, a Ruby gem for
managing virtual machines. Also, I'm going to give an overview on how
to write a Rails plugin. We'll get some discussion going again on the
possible Chippewa Valley Ruby Camp that has been in planning for a
while. Hope everyone can make it!

On a similar note, many of ECRuby are heading to the Twin Cities this
weekend for the Twin Cities Code Camp (http://twincitiescodecamp.com).
Brian Hogan and myself will be talking about a lot of web development
things. Many really smart and nice people will be there to talk about
a lot of web topics, some Ruby related. We hope to see everyone there.
If anyone needs rides, come to the meeting this week and let us know;
we can work something out.

Thanks to everyone who came. It was a fun meeting with lots of good
questions and hopefully lots of good learning. I know I learned a lot
of Vagrant myself.

Here is a gist that has the code we wrote while building our plugin. I
changed it up so that the method uses a splat operator for the fields
argument. This lets us just keep passing fields on the end instead of
wrapping them all in an array.
