Visiting Professor position – Junior level,
Department of Political Science

Starting date: September 2013

The Political Science Department at Central European University,
Budapest, is looking for a political economist interested in a junior
visiting faculty position for one academic year (September 2013-June
2014). We are looking for someone who can teach core courses in the
field on the MA level. The normal teaching load at CEU is three
classes (each class meets twice a week for 100 minutes, during 12
weeks) per academic year, plus MA thesis supervision.
The position can also be filled by two appointees, one with
responsibilities for courses in Sep-Dec 2013, and the other with
teaching and thesis supervision duties throughout Jan-June 2014.

Central European University (CEU) is a graduate research-intensive
university specializing primarily in the social sciences. It is
located in Budapest, and accredited in the United States and Hungary.
CEU’s mission is to promote academic excellence, state-of-the-art
research, and civic engagement, in order to contribute to the
development of open societies in Central and Eastern Europe, the
former Soviet Union, and other emerging democracies throughout the
world. CEU offers both Master’s and doctoral programs, and enrolls

countries, and a large number of prominent visiting scholars from
around the world. The language of instruction is English.
Duties and responsibilities:
Teaching postgraduate courses in Political Science, specialized on
political economy, and supervising MA theses. For details regarding

Qualifications:
PhD in political science, possibly in sociology, economics or other
social science disciplines with a well demonstrated track record of
teaching and/or research in political economy
