Contact sa-ecpv...@ucsb.edu if you're interested in helping out at any time.  1) We Are Isla Vista Compost Sifting With IV Compost Collective Nov. 13th from 1-3 PM @ St. Mike's  Help us transform IV residents’ food scraps into high-quality compost used at local community gardens. Come take part in the sifting process, where we will create a finer, more uniform compost material ideal for growing plants. All are welcome! Saturday Morning Live Nov. 15th from 11-1 PM @ St. Mike's  Volunteers will help beautify the St. Mike’s garden and clean up the surrounding blocks in Isla Vista! No prior gardening experience is necessary – all are welcome! Neon-Themed Neighborhood Clean-Up w/ IVCSD Nov. 16th from 11-1 PM Show out in your brightest outfits & comfy shoes! We will meet at St. Mike’s to start, then disperse throughout IV to clean the streets. All supplies will be provided. Let’s make our neighborhood shine together! Volunteer Appreciation Lunch & Block Party Nov. 16th from 1-2 PM St. Mike’s is hosting a lunch to say THANK YOU to all of the We are Isla Vista volunteers! Anyone who attended any of the events and/or donated to the food drive is welcome to attend. Celebrate your hard work, meet new people, connect with 10+ UCSB/IV orgs, and grab a free bite to eat.  2) Upcoming Workshops Scent of the Moment  We all have our comfort smells that ground us to calming down. Come join us in creating your own herbal pouch to take home. Take a break and relax with us! Wednesday, 11/12 from 3-4 PM @ West Campus FSH Garden Garden Matchmaking: Find Your Plot Partner Want to garden in our community gardens but don't want to do it alone? Come to our Garden Matchmaking Workshop and find your perfect plot partner! Meet fellow UCSB folks who share your gardening goals, learn about co-owning a plot in UCSB's community gardens, and start growing together. Whether you're a veggie grower, flower lover, or total beginner, there's a connection and resources waiting for you! Thursday, 11/13 from 3-4 PM @ Greenhouse & Garden Project Composting 101: Learn, Sift, and Grow with Microbes! Ever wondered how compost turns your food scraps into rich, healthy soil? Want to use our microscope to see the invisible world of microbes that make it all happen? Join us for Composting 101 an interactive, hands-on workshop where you’ll dive into the fascinating science of composting and learn how to apply it. Friday, 11/14 from 1-2 PM @ Methodist Community Garden Thyme to Grow: An Herb Garden Workshop It's THYME to GROW your own herbs! Come learn how to plant and care for herbs like basil, mint, and cilantro. Perfect for cooking, studying, or just adding a little green to your space, you'll leave with the tools and knowledge to grow your mini herb garden to enjoy at home. This SML will be the third volunteer event of We Are Isla Vista, so all volunteers will receive a lunch ticket to come to the volunteer celebration on November 16th.  We will also be accepting shelf-stable food donations at this SML. As always, no prior gardening experience is needed.
