Dear all, hello and I trust your fall terms are going well! We have now about 1400 completions for the EcoTypes survey so far this fall; feel free to view/share generalized results via bit.ly/ecotypes2526.
I'm writing to update you on two EcoTypes things:
In collaboration with colleagues from ESSCA (France), we ran a pilot experiment this fall using EcoTypes to structure student dialogue across difference, via EcoType/complementary EcoType partners. One interesting result: students assigned to an AI vs. human partner reported roughly similar quality of complementary EcoType role play behavior. There are far more data (mostly qualitative) we need to analyze regarding this result, but this may point to a new dialogue resource we may add to the EcoTypes site in time. [Yes, there are debates over AI!...our students learn about those too.]
I have been using EcoTypes in my introductory course this fall, and quite a few students report (as verified by their polarity score) that they don't yet have enough of an opinion on certain EcoTypes axes to complete the survey in a thoughtful manner. So, I have just uploaded a resource you may feel free to use, with details (≤1K words ea.) on each axis, also accompanied by a PDF version (attached). Much of this text dates from the early days of EcoTypes (2017-21) and could stand some updating, which I'll do once incorporated into a book, but feel free to use for instructional purposes as you wish (with proper citation please): as one example, I'm going to offer extra credit to any student who studies, and consults with me on, any one axis of interest.
Wishing you all well as you complete the fall, and be in touch as needed.
