Dear EcoTypes colleagues, hello and I trust your fall terms have gone well! I wanted to alert you to
a resource your students can now access on the EcoTypes site, created in collaboration with *our* students from Lewis & Clark College.
Ideological difference may feel more like a threat than a potential resource in our country these days. So why does the EcoTypes home page say "We disagree. That's good!"?? The answer may not be immediately intuitive to your students.
I'm sure you already discuss the potential value of difference toward environmental progress, but the systematic approach EcoTypes offers to help students consider the possibility that many care, just differently (MCJD) may be a help.
This fall, students in my Introduction to Environmental Studies course chose one of four communities, then traveled to these communities and engaged in MCJD dialogues. A quick summary of each, including photos and links to student testimonies, is on the
fall 2024 MCJD resource page, building on
previous work our students did in 2023-24.
My students and I would love to hear if your students scan the fall 2024 page and have questions or thoughts. You may compile and email them directly to me, or encourage your students to fill out the
question form.
Please share to this email list any such work you are doing in your classes!...we all benefit from these ideas.
Thank you,
Jim P.
